Connecticut Democratic Party staff are wearing red (not usually our color of choice) to celebrate ! CT women make 20% less than men for the same work. That's $430k over the course of a career, a gap Dems in CT are working to close.
The gap is even worse for women of color: African-American women make $1.25 million less over a 40-year career. Latinx women make $1.49 million less. That means the average African-American woman has to work until she's 91--and the Latinx woman until she's 103--to make as much as a man. For the same work.
Democratic lawmakers are doing something about it. In the House and Senate, CTDems are taking steps to pass a law ensuring equal pay for equal work, offering a practical solution to one of our biggest economic problems.
Connecticut Republican Party cosponsors on the bill: Zero.
