Lyme patients know this feeling too well.

Symptoms can be real, disruptive, and life-changing — even when test results don’t tell the full story.

Better answers start with listening. 💚

For many people with Lyme disease, the moment something felt really wrong isn’t a blur — it’s crystal clear.

Maybe it was the brain fog that made you lose your train of thought mid-sentence. The joint pain that seemed to come out of nowhere. Or the exhaustion that sleep could never seem to fix.

Whatever it was, that moment matters.

What Lyme disease symptom made you finally say, “Something isn’t right?”

Share it below. Your answer might help someone else stop second-guessing themselves. 👇

If you’ve ever had a minor panic attack over a stray piece of lint on your bedsheets, welcome to the club. 🫠

It’s officially tick season, and the collective paranoia is running just a little high. But all jokes aside, awareness really does matter. Ticks can be incredibly small (some no bigger than a poppy seed) and can be found in yards, parks, trails, beach grass, and neighborhoods — not just deep woods.

A few simple habits can go a long way this time of year: using repellent, staying mindful in tall grass, and doing a quick tick check after spending time outdoors.

Now tell us — what’s your biggest tick season ick? 👀💚

Ticks at the beach? It’s more common than you might think. 🏖️

Pleasure Beach in Bridgeport, CT was closed for the 2025 summer season after multiple tick species were found in the area, including the invasive Asian longhorned tick. It was a reminder that tick exposure doesn’t take a break at the beach.

Dune grass, beach vegetation, sandy trails, and migratory birds can all play a role in where ticks are found along the coast — and as beach season gets underway, it’s worth keeping in mind.

👣 Stay on clear sand paths when possible
🚫 Avoid sitting or walking through dune grass
🧴 Use EPA-registered repellent before you go
👀 Always do a tick check after the beach — yourself, your kids, and your pets

Enjoy the beach. Just don’t skip the tick check.

It’s easy to misunderstand what chronic illness means until you or someone you love is living through it.

It means the symptoms don’t just disappear when a calendar page turns. It means learning to navigate a body that plays by a different set of rules every single day. For the Lyme and chronic illness community, this isn’t a temporary interruption—it’s a journey of resilience, adjustment, and quiet strength.

To the people who stay, support, listen, and continue showing up through it all — thank you. 💚

"It could just be normal aches and pains from getting older."

For many people living with Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses, it's anything but normal.

GLA columnist Jennifer Crystal once described Lyme pain as feeling like your whole body is weighed down with a thick coating of molasses. Even lifting your limbs can feel exhausting. Joint pain, headaches, neck pain, and body aches can affect daily life in ways that aren't always visible to others.

Every patient's experience is different, but Lyme-related pain is often misunderstood or dismissed.

We're revisiting this powerful blog from Jennifer, where she shares what Lyme-related pain felt like for her and the challenges of living with symptoms that others can't always see.

GLA Ambassador Ashley Baker is helping push Lyme awareness forward in Maryland and West Virginia. 💚

You may recognize Ashley from the documentary “I’m Not Crazy, I’m Sick,” which highlights the experiences of patients navigating Lyme disease and chronic illness.

This month, both Maryland and West Virginia officially recognized May 2026 as Lyme & Tick-Borne Disease Awareness Month for the second year in a row — an important step in continuing to bring visibility and advocacy to the Lyme and tick-borne disease community.

Ashley, who has been living with chronic neurological Lyme disease and immune deficiency since 2018, continues to use her voice to advocate for patients through storytelling, awareness, and community engagement.

“These proclamations mean so much to me and are another reminder that our testimonies being shared can make a world of difference in the lives of others.”— Ashley Baker
