21 familiar faces. 21 very different experiences with Lyme disease.

PEOPLE Magazine highlighted public figures who have spoken openly about their experiences with Lyme disease — and we loved seeing Global Lyme Alliance included in the story.

From Bella and Yolanda Hadid to Ally Hilfiger, Justin Timberlake, Avril Lavigne, Shania Twain, Ben Stiller, and more, their experiences are a reminder of just how differently Lyme can show up from person to person.

Some have spoken about symptoms. Others about treatment, setbacks, or the impact Lyme has had on their careers and everyday lives.

“Wait…that can be a symptom?”
If you’ve ever had that thought, you’re not the only one.

What’s the strangest symptom you’ve experienced from Lyme disease or another tick-borne illness? Tell us in the comments. 👇

Night sweats, sudden chills, overwhelming fatigue... and feeling like you can’t quite get enough air? It could be babesiosis.

Babesiosis is a tickborne disease caused by Babesia parasites, which infect and destroy red blood cells and cause symptoms similar to malaria.

In the U.S., it’s primarily transmitted through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks, also known as deer ticks — the same ticks that transmit Lyme disease as well as other tickborne infections.

In more severe cases, the destruction of red blood cells can lead to hemolytic anemia and difficulty breathing.

Before today, had you heard of babesiosis... and did you know what symptoms to watch for?

Brett and Mark didn’t set out to become two of GLA’s most dedicated supporters. Lyme disease found their family, and they turned that experience into something bigger than themselves.

For years, they have shown up for this community again and again — not for recognition, but because they know exactly what it feels like when this disease hits close to home.

This October, we’re honoring that commitment — and the love for one daughter that became hope for families far beyond their own.

Celebrate them with us at Global Lyme Alliance’s Signature Event.

Ticks aren't just an annoyance on a hike—they're transforming our relationship with the outdoors.

ER visits from bites hit their highest point in a decade this past spring, and species like the lone star can sense and pursue prey up to 15 yards away. At the same time, ticks are turning up in backyards and city parks where people may not expect them.

From Lyme disease and babesiosis to anaplasmosis, Powassan virus, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and alpha-gal syndrome, different species can pose a wide range of health risks.

"It's really a Pandora's box of infection," one expert told The New York Times.

In a new feature, the Times takes a deep dive into the growing problem—and the research underway to find new ways to protect us.

Your yard might be rolling out the welcome mat for ticks and you don't even know it.

Ticks thrive where they find humidity and hosts. That means shady corners, brush piles, and overgrown edges can make your yard a lot more tick-friendly than you realize.

The good news? A few landscaping changes can make a real difference. Swipe through for what actually works — from where to put your swing set to why wildlife might be part of the problem. 🌿
