Thank you to the Norwalk Mariners Soccer Club Legends for coming together for a Domestic Violence Awareness Day and raising funds to support DVCC. Their efforts demonstrate how sports can unite people not only through competition, but through compassion, awareness, and action.

A heartfelt thank you to the Darien Girl Scouts for their generosity and compassion.
The troop recently organized a toiletry drive and decorated colorful kindness bags that will be given to children arriving at our safe house. These thoughtful bags help welcome children with comfort, care, and a reminder that their community is thinking of them.
Small acts of kindness can make a big difference during difficult moments, and we are so grateful to these young leaders for helping create a warm and welcoming experience for the children we serve. 💜

Sometimes the most important conversations begin with a puppet show. 🎭
Recently, children and families joined us at the Ferguson Library South End Branch in Stamford for a special PeaceWorks puppet show led by Elaine Guglielmo, DVCC Board Member, and Nikkia Ellis, DVCC’s Manager of Education, Training, and Outreach.
Through storytelling, puppets, and interactive conversations, children explored topics like kindness, respect, empathy, and healthy ways to express their feelings. These early lessons help lay the groundwork for healthy relationships later in life.
At DVCC, our PeaceWorks program reaches children and youth of all ages, helping them develop the skills to build positive relationships and navigate challenges in healthy ways. We’re grateful for opportunities like this to bring prevention education into the community and start these important conversations early.

It is never too early to start showing up for each other.
This past weekend, an incredible group from Citizen Church came together for a service day at our safe house — and look at the beautiful impact they made. A cheerful planter, filled with fresh flowers, and a welcoming mat now greet families arriving at a moment when they need to feel safe, seen, and welcomed. Small gestures, big meaning.
This is what community looks like.

Every child deserves to just be a kid. 🧸

For children living in the shadow of domestic violence, play is more than fun — it’s healing. Research shows that play helps traumatized children process difficult emotions, rebuild a sense of safety, and restore the normalcy that trauma steals away. A toy. A game. A week at summer camp. These aren’t small things — they are lifelines.

Prevention IS the mission. 🧡

Our PeaceWorks program partners with schools and law enforcement to educate teens on domestic violence — because awareness saves lives. Through specially designed curriculum, young people learn to recognize warning signs, understand healthy relationships, and access free, confidential resources when they need them. Yesterday, DVCC bilingual educator, Joao, was in Wilton High School with Officers from Wilton Police Dept, teaching a class on Stalking and Teen Dating Abuse. What a great example of community collaboration.

The far-reaching impact of this program is made possible by the dedicated individuals and grant-making organizations who fund this critical work. We are deeply grateful.

Together, we’re not just responding to domestic violence — we’re working to eliminate it.

A huge thank you to the Darien Youth Community Fund for awarding grant funding to support DVCC’s work with survivors in our community. We were so grateful for the opportunity to host members of the Youth Community Fund at DVCC for a recent site visit and conversation about the impact of our programs and services.
It’s inspiring to see the next generation learning the power of philanthropy and using their voices to create meaningful change in the community. 💛
