🚧 Stamps Street Repair Update

Good news! The City of Stamps has been approved for up to $400,000 for street repairs.

The full project is estimated at $415,000 and includes parts of Gravel, Sunset, Pine, Sioux, North Pecan, West 2nd, and Oak Streets.

At the September 28 City Council Meeting, I will ask the Council to approve the extra $15,000 so we can complete the full project.

I will also share the map and cost estimate so everyone can see what is planned.

We are working to improve our streets and move Stamps forward.

🚧 STAMPS STREET AID: WE’RE MOVING FORWARD ON STREET REPAIRS

On June 23, 2025, I formally requested assistance from the State Aid Street Committee to help address the condition of our streets in Stamps.

Today, that request moved another step forward.

I joined our new Public Works Supervisor, Kirby, and three representatives from ADOT to identify and review streets that we would like to include in approximately $400,000 in State Aid Street funding.

The streets we have requested for consideration include:

πŸ”Ή Sunset Street β€” from Oak Grove to Thompson, then Maple to the end of Sunset
πŸ”Ή North Pecan Street β€” from Ellis to 3rd Street
πŸ”Ή Oak Street β€” from Thomas to Opera
πŸ”Ή Gravel Street β€” from Oak Grove approximately halfway up the street
πŸ”Ή Pine Street
πŸ”Ή Sioux Street β€” Main Street and Church Street areas
πŸ”Ή West 2nd Street -- Ham and Worthen

NOW WE WAIT for the State Aid Street Committee to review and approve the streets.

If all of the requested streets fit within the available funding, we will move forward with the plan.

If the funding is not enough to address every street on the list, we will have to make difficult choices β€” either identify additional funding or remove some streets from the project.

And I want our residents to know the truth: street repairs may not begin until 2027 or 2028, depending on the State Aid process, funding, engineering, scheduling, and approval.

But waiting does not mean we stop working.

WE IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM.
WE REQUESTED THE FUNDING.
WE WALKED THE STREETS.
WE DEVELOPED A PROPOSED LIST.
AND NOW WE ARE WORKING THROUGH THE STATE PROCESS TO GET THE REPAIRS DONE.

This is what moving Stamps forward looks like β€” doing the work, pursuing the resources, and keeping our community informed every step of the way.

I will continue to keep you updated as we receive information from the State Aid Street Committee.

Stamps deserves streets we can be proud of. And we are working to make that happen. 🚧🐝

🏠 PARTNERSHIPS THAT BRING RESOURCES HOME

As Mayor, I continue working with partners to connect Stamps and Lafayette County residents with resources that can make a real difference.

Communities Unlimited is applying for a USDA Housing Preservation Grant that could assist low- and very-low-income homeowners with critical home repairs in our area.
