As our staff wrapped up their final day yesterday, there were many smiles, memories shared, and some very difficult goodbyes throughout the halls of WMMS. One goodbye that especially touched our hearts was saying farewell to Karen Klie as she begins her well-earned retirement after 30 incredible years of serving William Monroe Middle School. ❤️🐉

For three decades, Karen has been so much more than just a staff member. She has been a steady source of comfort, encouragement, patience, and strength for countless students, families, and coworkers. No matter the challenge a student faced, Karen was always there with unwavering support, a listening ear, and a heart that never stopped advocating for kids. She has made such a meaningful and lasting impact on our school community, and the lives she has touched over the years are truly impossible to count.

Karen’s dedication to students went far beyond what was expected. She celebrated their successes, helped them through difficult moments, and made sure they always knew someone believed in them. Her kindness, compassion, and commitment have helped shape WMMS into the caring and supportive place it is today.

While we are so excited for Karen as she enters this new chapter filled with relaxation, family time, and opportunities to enjoy the things she loves most, there is no denying that she will be deeply missed in our hallways each and every day. The impact she leaves behind will continue to be felt for years to come.

Karen, thank you for the countless hours, the love you poured into this school, and the difference you have made in the lives of so many students and staff members over the past 30 years. WMMS is better because of you, and we are forever grateful for everything you have done.

Our 8th grade Dragons had an unforgettable week last week! 🐉☀️

Students enjoyed Field Day with music, obstacle courses, co****le, kickball, and even getting misted by teachers to cool off during Tuesday’s hot weather. Laughter and memories filled the day from start to finish!

They wrapped up the week with their 8th Grade Graduation, where students were recognized by teachers for their outstanding accomplishments, growth, and hard work throughout the year.

We are so proud of this class and all they have achieved. As they spread their wings into high school, we wish them success, happiness, and confidence in everything they do. Remember, once a Dragon, always a Dragon. We are always here to support you!💚

A huge congratulations to Morgan Hall, one of our amazing 6th grade science teachers and dedicated Cheerleading Coach, on being selected for the prestigious Abrams Endowment Program! 🎉🐉

This is an incredible honor, as only 25 teachers from across the entire country were chosen to participate in this hands-on STEM training program. Through this opportunity, Mrs. Hall will work alongside other outstanding educators to gain innovative strategies and real-world experiences that she can bring directly back into her science classroom to inspire students in exciting new ways.

Anyone who knows Mrs. Hall knows how much passion, energy, and heart she pours into everything she does. Whether she is creating engaging science lessons, encouraging students to think critically, supporting her cheerleaders, or simply building positive relationships with kids each day, she always goes above and beyond for our school community.

We are beyond proud to see her recognized on a national level for the impact she makes in education. Our students are so fortunate to learn from someone who is constantly striving to grow, learn, and create meaningful experiences for them. We cannot wait to see all of the amazing STEM ideas and opportunities she brings back to WMMS!

A huge congratulations and thank you to Sarah Moulden and our talented student musicians for an absolutely spectacular Spring Band Performance! The evening was a true showcase of the dedication, growth, and musical talent of our students, and it was evident how much hard work and preparation went into every performance. Ms. Moulden’s passion, leadership, and commitment to excellence continue to inspire our students and elevate our music program in incredible ways. We are so proud of our band students for representing WMMS with such professionalism, confidence, and heart. Bravo on an outstanding performance!

This past weekend, our WMMS stage came alive with the magic of Moana, showcasing the incredible talent, dedication, and heart of our students. A tremendous thank you goes to Mr. Aaron Hale for his outstanding leadership and vision in bringing this production to life. We are also deeply grateful to Jennifer Dawson, Emily Castle, and Lesley King for their countless contributions and support throughout the process. From the performances to the music, set design, and behind-the-scenes work, the entire production reflected the very best of WMMS. It was truly a magical weekend and a celebration of the creativity and talent that make our school community so special!

Congratulations to Mike Alley on being selected as JVG’s Region 2 Outstanding Specialist! This recognition reflects the incredible work he has done over the past two years to build a strong and impactful middle school program here in Greene County.
Mr. Alley has created a program that not only supports students academically, but also fosters meaningful connections and a strong sense of belonging. His dedication to his students and the broader school community is evident in everything he does, and his work is making a lasting difference in the lives of our students.
His efforts have also helped elevate middle school programming more broadly, providing a model for how to better support and engage students at this level. We are proud of the work Mr. Alley is doing and grateful for the passion and commitment he brings to WMMS and to Jobs for Virginia Graduates. 🐉
