FYI for those who use the track at the schools!!

🏃‍♀️🚧 Did You Know? Summer is One of the Busiest Times of the Year on a School Campus! 🚧🏃‍♂️

While students and teachers enjoy a well-deserved summer break, our schools remain busy behind the scenes. From deep cleaning school buildings and completing maintenance projects to planning for the new school year, summer is a critical time for preparing our facilities and ensuring everything is ready to welcome students back in August.

One of the many summer projects is the resurfacing of the William Monroe High School track beginning next week. To allow crews to safely complete this important improvement and for the resurfacing to seal, the track at Martin Mooney Field will be closed from Monday, June 15 through Friday, June 26.

This project will help preserve the track, improve its performance and safety, and ensure it continues to serve our students, athletes, and community for years to come.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we invest in our facilities and prepare for another successful school year. Stay tuned throughout the summer as we share more of the exciting work happening across Greene County Public Schools!

Stanard Street will be closed June 11-12, 2026 for safety improvement work and the week after (weather permitting) for repaving. VDOT will be completing the safety concerns regarding work previously done on Stanard Street in Stanardsville near the intersection with Celt Road and repave that area. The roadway will be closed during that time between Celt Road and Ford Avenue. To access the Health Department, Treasurer's Office, Commonwealth's Attorney's Office or Registrar's Office, enter the parking lot via Ford Avenue, crossing the portion of Stanard Street that will not be closed. Closure for Maintenance

The Greene County Solid Waste Facility will be closing at 11:30 a.m., on June 16, 2026, and will remain closed June 17, 18, 19, 20, and 22. It will reopen on June 23, provided the cylinder cure test of 85% is completed. We will notify the public when it's reopened.
