Last week we had our annual LCSO Awards Banquet. We were honored to have Rob Gullette as our keynote speaker. CSO Jeff Sims received the 2026 Court Security Officer of the Year and Deputy Austin Price received the 2026 Deputy of the Year. Congrats to all who were recognized!

Scam Alert 🚨

Someone is calling people in Lincoln and surrounding counties claiming to be with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Remember: We will never ask anyone to pay money over the phone for possible tickets, warrants, or other legal matters.

If you are unsure whether someone from the Sheriff’s Office is trying to contact you, please call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office directly to confirm at 606-365-2696.

The Sheriff’s Office will be offering rides from the downtown area to Pettus Court for the prayer vigil for Mayor Miller this evening. We will start around 8pm.

We’ve had a couple of school groups visit the last few days. The Donaldson Family and the kindergarten class from Highland Elementary. Everyone was very attentive and asked great questions. They got a tour of the office and even got to see K-9 Viki work with her handler Deputy Logan Smith!

SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE

We’ve been made aware of continuing scam messages and notices circulating that claim to be from courts, state agencies, and even law enforcement.
These messages may look official and threaten enforcement action for unpaid tolls, traffic violations, or fines. Some even include court dates, case numbers, or QR codes for “payment.”

⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM.
Law enforcement agencies and courts do NOT:
• Send text messages demanding immediate payment
• Ask you to pay fines through QR codes, gift cards, or apps
• Threaten arrest or license suspension via text or unsolicited messages
Scammers are also impersonating state police and other official agencies to make these messages appear legitimate.

What to watch for:
• Unexpected texts or emails about violations or fines
• Urgent demands for immediate payment
• Requests to click links or scan QR codes
• Messages asking for personal or financial information

What you should do:
• Do NOT click links or scan QR codes
• Do NOT respond or provide any information
• Delete the message
• Verify any claims by contacting the court or agency directly using official contact information

If you receive one of these messages, please disregard it and do not send any form of payment.
