and skin cells from patients with 22q11 microdeletion syndrome and from normal controls and turn them into stem cells, which then will be grown into neurons. We will carefully examine neurons from individuals with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome and compare them to those individuals without the deletions. General eligibility includes individuals who are:
• Between the ages of 18-40 years old.
• Have a known 22Q11 deletion
OR
For “normal controls”: have no major mental illness.
• Fluent in the English language. Participation in this study requires:
• Travel to Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, California. USA.
• Completion of cognitive and behavioral tests and interviews.
• A brief physical exam.
• A blood draw and a very small skin sample will be collected.
