DID YOU KNOW? In NYS when you see a vehicle approaching with a BLUE or GREEN Flashing Light in your rear-view mirror it is a VOLUNTEER Firefighter or EMT responding to either a Fire or Ambulance Call. These personnel need to get to the firehouse/EMS station or to the scene as quickly as possible to render the service needed in a timely fashion. PLEASE BE COURTEOUS and when safe to do so, PULL OVER, STOP and LET THEM PASS. Someone is depending on their help and sometimes seconds really do count. Thank you!!

Lakeland EMS regrets to announce the passing of Life Member Arthur “Artie” Schikschneit. Art joined the Department approximately 30 years ago and served as an EMT, Rescue Member, Sergeant, and Trustee during his active time with us. He dutifully responded with Lakeland during the tragic events of 9/11, and also served with our friends at Hopatcong Ambulance Squad prior to joining Lakeland. Rest peacefully, Artie. Thank you for your decades of service to the Department and to your community. We will miss you, friend.

In lieu of arrangements in the short term, we will remember Art with a last call broadcast tomorrow (Saturday) shortly after 12:00PM for those who would like to listen in remotely or you may join us by gathering at our HQ in Byram.

The Brighton family is again hurting. We are heartbroken the share the sudden passing of our President, Derek Meyer. Derek was a 16 year member of the fire company and was just recently installed to his first term as President. Our hearts are heavy and in shock. More details will follow in the coming days. Please keep Derek’s family in your thoughts and prayers.

In Memory of Lieutenant Mike Monaco

It is with deep sadness that Hampton Fire and Rescue acknowledge the passing of Lieutenant Mike Monaco of the Newton Police Department. After a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer, Lieutenant Monaco leaves behind a legacy defined by bravery, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the town and community he served.

Throughout his distinguished career, Mike was more than just a badge; he was a mentor to his fellow officers and a steady, protective presence for the citizens of Newton. Even in his private struggle against illness, he demonstrated the same resilience and strength that characterized his years on the force.

Our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and his brothers and sisters in blue during this incredibly difficult time. He served with honor, and his impact on the community will not be forgotten.
