This week, Chief Jason Pettit represented the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department by presenting the recipients of the Ronnie Richards Memorial Scholarship with their awards.

Ronnie Richards made the ultimate sacrifice while serving his community. In his honor, this scholarship was established to preserve his legacy and support students who are committed to pursuing careers and futures centered on community service.

We would like to say THANK YOU to all individuals or businesses who contributed to the scholarship.

The following students have exemplified the spirit of service and demonstrated an outstanding dedication to their communities. We are proud to recognize their achievements and commitment to making a difference.

Lightning Awareness

As the summer months arrive and warm weather moves in please be aware of the potential for lightning strikes.

Today May 20th at approximately 4:30PM, the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department was requested to investigate a lightning strike of a residence.

The home owner stated they heard a loud noise and discovered that their cable box had exploded, leaving a burn mark on the wall. Upon further investigation, a satellite was found to have been struck by lightning, the homes gutter also had a hole burnt through it.
There were no injuries reported.
