UPDATE on the

Firefighters putting in the work! The weather worked in our favor today allowing fire crews to gain the upper hand on the blaze. While the fire is not out, and we have no official estimate of containment, we are confident in the fact that it has been significantly knocked back. Crews will remain on South Mountain until the blaze is completely out, but for now we're happy with the progress.

Further updates will be available through Utah Fire Info .

UPDATE on the

The fire is currently estimated at 1,000–2,000 acres, with 0% containment. The good news is that additional resources are arriving to support the fight. We're also expecting air support.

As a cold front moves through the area, we're expecting this
to be a challenge, so please avoid the area, and do NOT attempt to fly a drone near the fireground.

UPDATE: As of 6:00am, fire crews are still working on containment for the , which has grown to over 1000 acres overnight.

50mph wind gusts and dry conditions have caused rapid growth. There are still no immediate threats to the public and no evacuations.

Please remember that road access is limited, and fire crews are entering and exiting the area. Please do not attempt to access the fireground.

Please do not attempt to get drone footage of the blaze, as it prevents the use of air support.

NEW START: At 8:44pm NTFD crews were dispatched to the area above South Mountain Road in Tooele County for reports of a wildland fire. Currently there are crews from NTFD, Grantsville, Tooele City, Tooele County, Stockton, BLM, and Utah DNR working to contain the blaze.

As of 9:44 over 200 acres have burned with 0% containment.

THERE ARE NO EVACUATIONS, and currently the only structure immediately threatened is an unmanned communications tower on South Mountain itself.

While we understand the flames are visible throughout Tooele County, please do NOT attempt to get closer to the fire as roads will be needed for crews to enter and exit the area.

There is currently no estimate for containment and cause is under investigation.

Congratulations to our newest North Tooele Firefighters!

Today we celebrated the Tooele County Fire Academy 2026 graduating class. These firefighters, along with those from Tooele County Fire, Tooele City Fire, Grantsville Fire, Stockton Fire, and Vernon Fire marked the end of a 6 month journey that started as strangers, continued as cadets, and ended as firefighters. Somewhere along that line, they became something even more significant. Family.

Congratulations Firefighters. Now go clean the truck. πŸ˜‰

At 8:34pm, Thursday, May 14th, 2026. NTFD was dispatched to a home in Pine Canyon. Upon arrival, firefighters found a detached garage fully engulfed in flames, which was later found to be a total loss.

A mutual aid page was sent to our partners at Tooele City Fire Department and Tooele County Fire, who arrived within minutes to help keep this fire from spreading to nearby homes and vegetation. Also, thanks to Tooele County Sheriff's Office, Tooele City PD, and Mountain West Ambulance for their support on scene.

No other structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.
