Historical One Room Stanton Schoolhouse

 This is your chance to own a piece of Minnesota history.

The original one room school house that served this town of Stanton, and was built in approximately 1890 needs its next home and next chapter in life.

Because this was moved from its original location, it is not eligible for listing on the national register of historic places. But, don’t let this dissuade you from noticing the exceptional beauty and uniqueness of this building.

We have spent over 20 years thinking about what to do with this beautiful building. It needs someone to appreciate its architecture and give it a modern renovation.

The bones are good. This is old world lumber that forms the structure. We have kept a roof on it, in fact we had the roof replaced after a hail storm just last summer. The stamped tinning that lines the walls and ceilings is interesting and beautiful.

You would need to move this building to your lot.

The first step to new life begins next Thursday!

Mary Schmelzer with VIVUS Design is going to be our project consultant. I want someone who loves the visual aspects of architecture. I want someone who can see the thread that binds a building to history & have authentic conversations about this historical context. I need someone who can take a vision and create the action plan. The original town of Stanton has been designated a “ghost town.” The original 1 room schoolhouse is one of the few remaining original structures. Follow our story as we work on claiming historical status for the structure. We have big dreams...this is our first step.

Chuck and I are starting the process to claim historical designation for our 1 room schoolhouse that served the town of Stanton until the mid 20th century.
