Christa is pretty awesome!!!

Meet Christa Merritt, Health Educator at Mid Michigan District Health Department and a United Way board member for 5 years.

𝗤: 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙒𝙖𝙮?
𝗔: I have lived in this area all of my life and have raised family here. The impact United Way has on our rural communities and the people, places, and things within them is amazing. Teaching individuals how to volunteer, showing communities the accomplishment of working together, supporting one another in times of needs is what I believe United Way should stand for and adding "Greater Central Michigan" says it all "GREATER" — we are greater together than we are apart.

𝗤: 𝙊𝙪𝙩𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙒𝙖𝙮, 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮?
𝗔: I serve my community in many ways — it may be donating goods for resale and the local thrift stores, helping with organizing benefits for community members, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, and recruiting my children to volunteer with me at community events — my children call it being "voluntold," but if it works to get them to give-back, I take it. :-)

𝗤: 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙮 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙘𝙠?
𝗔: In my down time, my three sons (20, 22 & 26) keep me quite busy — they keep me smiling and amazed everyday with their whit, charm and kindness. My husband and I enjoy outdoor activities with my favorite season being summer — I love being on a motorcycle with "the wind in my hair," relaxing at the pool, mowing the lawn (yes, mowing the lawn), and best-of-all, time around the fire with family and friends.

Thank you, Christa, for your dedication to helping build a stronger community. 💙

Breastfeeding is good for both you and your baby. Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for most babies, and as your baby grows, your breast milk will change to meet their nutritional needs.

Watch out for ticks... they're tiny! They can transmit bacteria that causes Lyme disease. Be sure to check yourself and your pet for ticks after you have been outdoors, especially if you've visited tall grassy areas or woodlands.
