Welcome to the Michigan 4-H Biking Challenge 2020! Starting on June 15th and continuing through July 6th, this biking challenge is a great way to get outside, get active and have fun! Three weekly challenges will be posted to the Michigan 4-H Healthy Youth page at the start of each week. We encourage each biker to ride for 30 to 60 minutes a day throughout the week to complete the challenges. Participants can then email ([email protected]) pictures to be shared on the page and receive prizes! Our judges will announce the winner of the Grand Prizes for each challenge at the end of the week. These challenges are easy to do at home and are fun for the whole family. Grab your bike, your helmet, and get riding!

I am really excited to announce the launch of our Montcalm County 4-H Virtual Showcase!! http://montcalmshowcase.fairentry.com

An email was sent out last week with details about what each project area required. I hope you all have been capturing those pictures and videos so you can begin uploading them. The entry deadline is June 19th at midnight and judging will begin on June 20th. Each entry will receive an A, B or C rating along with feedback from the judges. A few things to note:

1. When you login to the system, you can do so using the same login and password as you use for 4honline. It will automatically have your name, age, projects, etc. entered.
2. You must upload pictures/videos at the same time as you register your projects. You will not be able to register and then go back in to upload without entering the class again.
3. Videos must be uploaded to YouTube and then the link copied into your registration. Here is a how-to for that process: https://www.screencast.com/t/qrVzMiaEr
4. Record books are encouraged to be submitted. We will be giving away prizes for them. You can register and upload a copy of your record book through this system OR mail it to the office, email it, or drop it off in our drop box (also due June 19th)
5. The horse showmanship pattern is attached for all horse/pony showmanship entries.

Welcome to the 2020 Montcalm County 4-H Virtual Showcase! We are excited to provide this opportunity to youth. Please use your 4-H Online account to login.

After nearly 60 years of welcoming the Michigan 4-H community for place-based experiential learning, Kettunen Center will close permanently effective July 1, 2020.

Please know that this decision was not one taken lightly. This was an emotional and difficult decision for the board. The Michigan 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees committed to supporting Michigan 4-H Youth Development, including volunteer training and workshops.

Please read the full board memo for additional details.

The Michigan 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees and Kettunen Center staff members would like to thank the many groups who have continued to gather, learn and grow at Kettunen Center for nearly six decades. To our 4-H groups and stakeholders, we especially thank you for your long-time support and dedication to Kettunen Center.

On behalf of the Montcalm County Fair Association and the Montcalm County 4-H Program we would like to provide a quick update since we have received so many questions. At this time, the fair has not been cancelled. A decision will be made on how the fair will move forward for 2020 in the next couple weeks. Prior to this, we would like you to participate in a survey to provide feedback from our participants for consideration. The survey is available now and is located here: https://www.montcalmcountyfairgrounds.com/ Thank you all for understanding this is a challenging and constant changing situation, we would appreciate your patience during this time. Survey must be completed by April 18th.
Who can participate? The Michigan Regional Future City Competition is open to Michigan students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th who are from the same school, a home school environment (a Home School Affidavit form will need to be completed), or are members of a nationally, regionally, or state recognized youth-focused organization, such as the Boy or Girl Scouts; Boys and Girls Clubs; 4-H, etc. The competition is team-based and each team consists of at least three students, an educator and a volunteer mentor. Please note a time change for sweepstakes on Saturday to 11 a.m.
It appears that someone has dumped 3 beautiful roosters on the side of the road on Grow rd. Just North of W. Holland Lake rd. They have been there for about 4 days now. I’ve given them some food and water...tried to catch them but couldn’t...I’d hate to see them taken down by predators! Can anyone help?!
Anyone have the link for Showorks? Is it live yet?
