GREAT NEWS FOR THE CITY OF STANTON! 💧

After approximately 7 years of continuous water loss, I am happy to announce that the Bowen Water Tank has been successfully rehabilitated and is no longer leaking!

It is estimated that this tank was experiencing roughly a 30% water loss annually. With a capacity of 632,000 gallons, the Bowen Water Tank provides water service to Campton Road, North Fork, Cat Creek, Rosslyn, Hinkle Construction Company, and surrounding areas.

Water is precious, and this rehabilitation project will allow the City of Stanton to conserve a resource that is needed by everyone. At the same time, the city will benefit financially through a reduction in our monthly water expense to the Beech Fork Water Commission, which provides water service to our city and county.

This rehabilitation was made possible through a $2 million state line-item grant that I secured in 2024.

And the work doesn't stop here!

Our next project is the rehabilitation of the Pendleton Street 200,000-gallon water tank, which has been leaking on and off for 15 years. Eventually, this tank will be replaced with a new tank. Both projects are being funded through this grant, and both projects are currently in progress.

This is a tremendous investment in the future of our water system, our community, and the people we serve.

Paint Creek Pipeline Update – Monday, August 3

The City of Stanton would like to provide an update on the Paint Creek Waterline Project.

As of today, the Clay Pipeline contractor is pressure testing the new water lines. If everything passes inspection and is approved, the contractor will begin transitioning water service from the old water line to the new water line.

Once that transition is complete, crews will begin reconnecting individual water meters to the new line. After all meter connections have been completed, the contractor will begin cleanup and restoration of affected properties, returning them as closely as possible to their original condition.

Based on our discussions with the contractor, we are hopeful this phase of the project will be completed over the next several weeks, with work wrapping up in early September.

We appreciate everyone's patience throughout this project. Replacing these aging water lines is a significant investment in improving the reliability of our water system for years to come.

Once this project is complete, work will then begin on the new water pump station. At this time, there is no established timeline for completion of that project.

Request for Bids for Roadwork on City Streets

The City of Stanton is currently accepting bids relative to blacktopping/paving on certain city streets. A detailed list of the locations to be paved and the specifications regarding the paving may be obtained from the City of Stanton during regular business hours. All.bids need to be provided to the City of Stanton City Hall in a sealed envelope. The mailing address for the City of Stanton is P.O. Box 370, Stanton KY 40380. The physical address for Stanton City Hall is 98 Court Street, Stanton, Kentucky 40380. All bids, in order to be considered, must be in writing and signed by the person submitting the bid or by an authorized representative. All bids in order to be considered, must be returned to the Stanton City Office by Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 3:00 pm. It is the sole responsibility of the person or entity submitting the bid to see that it is delivered on time and received by the City by the deadline. The City of Stanton reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any informalities or irregularities in the bidding process, and to accept the lowest and best bid as determined to be in the best interest of the City. Anyone having questions regarding this request for bids may contact the City of Stanton at (606) 663-6474. The City of Stanton will open and review the bids at a Special City Council Meeting on August 19th at 6:00 p.m.

Paint Creek Water System Update

We are pleased to report that, as of today, the Paint Creek water tank is now more than half full and continues to gain water. We are grateful that the issue has been resolved and the system is continuing to recover.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this situation caused our customers and want to thank everyone for their patience, understanding, and support throughout this process.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the City of Stanton employees, Clay Pipeline, and everyone else who worked tirelessly to locate and repair the problem. We are truly grateful for their efforts.

Paint Creek Water Tank Update

Our crews, along with Clay Pipeline, continue working to locate and repair water leaks along the line. We have found and repaired several leaks and are continuing to search for any remaining issues throughout the system. Every repair brings us one step closer to restoring normal operation and allowing the water tank to begin recovering.

We are making every effort to locate any remaining leaks and restore the system as quickly as possible. We hope to have a better update within the next few hours regarding the tank's progress and whether it has begun to refill.

We understand how disruptive this situation has been to your daily lives, and we sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support while our crews work to resolve the issue.

🚧 Paint Creek Water Service Update 🚧

As of today, we continue working to identify and resolve the issue preventing water from reaching the Paint Creek tank.

After eliminating several possible causes, we believe the problem is related to leaks within the water system. Our crews have already repaired several leaks, and additional repairs are scheduled for tomorrow. In the meantime, we are continuing to test and isolate sections of the water lines to locate any remaining leaks.

We understand how disruptive this situation has been, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding. Please know that our crews are committed to restoring normal service as quickly and safely as possible.

How You Can Help: If you notice any unusual standing water, excessive water flow, or other signs of a possible leak, please let us know.
