Last night Stanton Fire Dept members had its official training with representatives from Toyne Manufacturing out of Breda, IA. This now embarks on a new milestone in abilities to future serve our local Southwest Iowa communities. We have now welcomed a new pumper apparatus 232 into our station and replacing its predecessor 235. Huge shout out and thank you to the people who spent many hours on this truck committee over the past 800+ days awaiting its arrival. This project would not be possible without the help of the Stanton City Council and Stanton Fire Rural Trustees working hand in hand to make this happen.

At 9:59 this morning Stanton Fire along with automatic mutal aid from Red Oak and Villisca were dispatched to a house fire in Rural Stanton. Crews were on scene till a few minutes after 1pm that afternoon. Extensive damage and overhaul was reported with more mutual aid requested for man power and water from Elliot, Grant, Clarinda, and Essex. Huge shout out to neighboring departments as this is vital asset for all departments involved.

Stanton department members have completed our controlled burns earlier this week that were on the books for the 2026 spring calendar. Huge thanks to all of them for taking time out of their busy schedules to put some skills to use. We appreciate the partnership with our local farmers to make these happen in a safe manner. If you have a field for 2027 year don’t be afraid to reach out to a department member!

The Stanton Viking Center FEMA Tornado Shelter will be open tonight till the tornado watch/warning has expired.
(Area) The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for all of southwest Iowa Friday evening as severe storms move into the region.

Last night, the Stanton Fire and Rescue Department held their Annual Rural trustee meeting. There was great discussion and updates given between both groups! We had the honor of presenting our Volunteer of the Year award to Stacy Hart! She has showed great commitment and desire to the betterment of our department and community. Please help us give a big congratulations to Stacy!
