Montcalm CASA - Court Appointed Special Advocates

Montcalm CASA - Court Appointed Special Advocates Montcalm CASA provides trained volunteers to be a voice for abused and neglected children in the juvenile justice system by providing advocacy for their needs and ensuring a permanent home.

In March 2002, community leaders from Montcalm County Juvenile Court, Montcalm Human Services Coalition and concerned citizens convened for the first time to create a CASA program in Montcalm County. In 2003, the Montcalm CASA Advisory Board was formed and it secured a Program Coordinator and by August 2004, the first volunteer was assigned a case. Today, more than 60 children’s voices have been heard through the advocacy of the Montcalm CASA Program.

Mission: Montcalm CASA provides trained volunteers to be a voice for abused and neglected children in the juvenile justice system by providing advocacy for their needs and ensuring a permanent home.

Our Montcalm CASA program needs your help!
We are sharing this urgent CALL TO ACTION in the hopes that you will take a few moments to voice your support to our legislators to save cuts to our VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) funding.

CASA programs across the state currently receive $1.67 million dollars in funding and if this is eliminated, approximately 500 children will lose their voice in court!
We need the support of every friend of CASA to help us reach out to Congress about Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding.

Please take a moment to act and help us – click the link, add your address and hit send! Only takes seconds – THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Please consider Montcalm CASA as you make your Giving Tuesday Donations. Montcalm CASA believes that one caring adult can make all the difference in the life of a child. We advocate for abused and neglected children who have been removed from their homes and placed in foster care, with an open case in the Montcalm County Juvenile Court System.
Montcalm CASA is a program administered by EightCAP, Inc.
Thank you! ❤

Happy Retirement to someone who has done so much to help children in our community!

Mary Ellen Clery, executive director of WCFK Council, has been with us for the past five years. We are very sad to announce her resignation. She has been a tremendous leader, a true champion for children, and she has made our presence in the community much more well known. We will miss her greatly and wish her the best as she begins to enjoy life as a grandma! Mary Ellen Clery

Need is greater than ever for special advocates for foster children during pandemic

This is such a wonderful reminder that CASA's are still out there trying to connect with kids, in ways that matter. We're all anxious for face to face visits, with the kids we serve, to be deemed safe again. Until then, we'll continue to adapt.

There are concerns child abuse could be on the rise with kids at home instead of school, but we might not know about it.

" I really appreciate the 3rd Meals program. I see how anxious some of my students get towards the end of the day knowing that they are going home to environments that may not have the basic necessities.I know these meals make a world of difference to our students and I am grateful for the generosity of the community and their on-going support of this program. It truly makes a difference"...5th grade teacher
