Archery Day 3 recap. OH SO FREAKIN CLOSE!!! I went from being stood up for my date to my date showing up 20 minutes too early!!! It’ll happen tho right guys?! Getting closer and closer everyday!

Anyone else have your target animal just show up too damn early or maybe just a little too late?!? I can’t be the only one!

Day 2 archery deer was very productive….well part of it was. Learned a lot that will hopefully pay off on day 3 or day 4! 🤞🏼

He was close enough. Close enough to kill.

Jeff had a decent bull at bow range. He was at 19 yards at one point.

Broadside. Close. The kind of opportunity most hunters spend years waiting for.

Opening day of archery deer recap. No arrows flung, but always fun to be in the woods chasing critters around and arguing with chipmunks. Just wrapped up day 2, ready for day 3 with fresh intel!!
Anyone successful with the stick and string on a buck yet??

Notching the tag is great, but the job doesn’t feel finished until the meat goes into the freezer. At least for me.

On this bear, I kept it pretty simple. Burger with 10% beef fat, the shanks left whole for the crockpot, and a couple of roasts.

I also kept 12 pounds of fat that our friend Dave, who owns this butcher shop, is going to render down and put to good use.

It always blows me away when people who don’t hunt either assume hunters don’t eat the bears they harvest, or are surprised to find out that bear meat is even edible. It’s not just edible, it’s incredibly delicious.

Bear hunting helps manage populations and can reduce predation on fawns and calves. Hunters also directly contribute to conservation through license and tag dollars.

BEAR HUNTING IS CONSERVATION.
