⛳️ A big thank you to everyone who helped make the 2026 Mayor’s Scholarship Golf Tournament a success!

Last Friday, June 5, golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and community supporters came together at River Birch Golf Course for a day of fun, friendly competition, and giving back. We want to extend a special thank you to the outstanding staff at River Birch Golf Course for their hospitality and hard work in helping make the event possible.

We are also incredibly grateful to our sponsors and all of the players whose generous support continues to invest in the future of Star’s students.

Because of this community’s commitment to education, we were able to award scholarships to 24 Star high school students this year. The funds raised during this year’s tournament will help us continue growing the program and create even more opportunities for students in the years ahead.

Thank you for supporting the next generation of leaders, innovators, and community members. We look forward to helping even more students achieve their educational goals next year! 🎓🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️

🎶The City of Star's 2026 Summer Concert Series is back!☀️

Join us Friday, June 12, at 7:00 PM as Stef & The Groove kick off another summer of great music in the backyard of the Star Riverhouse (960 S. Main Street).

✅ What to Know Before You Go
🪑 Bring your own chairs
⛺ Pop-up tents are allowed but must be set up at the back of the Riverhouse yard so everyone can enjoy the view.
🍕🥤 Outside food and drinks are welcome.
🍷 Alcohol is permitted in the Riverhouse backyard only.
🚫 Alcohol is not permitted in Freedom Park.
🐾 No pets allowed at concerts.

🚗 Now for the bad news...

We know many of you have been looking forward to additional parking at the Riverhouse. Unfortunately, the new lot won't be completed until later this summer. So yes... we have one more season of parking hunger games ahead of us. 😅

We strongly encourage you to:
🚶 Walk if you're nearby
🚲 Ride your bike
🚗 Carpool with friends, family, or neighbors

The overflow pasture parking area has been striped with designated parking stalls to maximize parking capacity while maintaining emergency vehicle access.

⚠️ Vehicles must be parked in designated marked stalls only. Vehicles parked outside designated spaces will be cited.

🕕 Please note: The overflow pasture parking lot will not open to the public until 6:00 PM to allow vendors and the band to unload equipment and set up for the concert.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe and make the most of the available parking. We can't wait to see you on June 12 for a great night with Stef & The Groove!

🎣 The Star Police Fishing Rodeo is almost here, and we still have booth spaces available!

This free community event brings together local families, kids, grandparents, and Star Police officers for a fun morning of fishing, prizes, and time outdoors at the Riverhouse. It’s become one of Star’s favorite summer traditions. ☀️🐟👮

Local businesses and organizations can set up a booth in the backyard for just $25. Booths are asked to provide a simple kid-friendly activity or giveaway while promoting their business and connecting with local families.

This is a great opportunity to show support for our police officers, meet members of the community, and be part of a positive event focused on kids and families.

And for families attending — come enjoy a fun morning by the water, meet our officers, and let the kids try their luck at fishing!

Today, Memorial Day, also known as Decoration Day, we honor those who can no longer be with us. We honor those who were never afforded the opportunity to be honored as veterans for their service to our great country.

Today, we honor the fallen, the brave men and women of our country, who paid the ultimate sacrifice standing up and defending our country and the United States of America Constitution, defending the very freedoms we enjoy today.

Today, we honor over 1.3 million United States Military personnel, Men and Women, who died in all of the wars from the American Revolutionary War to our current War on Terror.

Today, we honor those families who lost loved ones defending America, thank you from our heart for your sacrifices.

Let us never forget the images of families sending off loved ones to serve in combat. The pride and mixture of emotions of those families and soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines. The endless prayers to keep them safe, and to return the most courageous of all of us home, with the very real possibility that their return will be led by a military officer and chaplain delivering devastating news.

Let us never forget the images of our military battlefield crosses: Rifle, Helmet, Boots and Dog Tags. The riffle with a bayonet stuck in the ground representing the soldier who lost his or her life fighting in battle, the boots representing the soldier marching their final March into battle, the helmet and dog tags identifying the fallen soldier, their names never to be forgotten.

Let us never forget the images of our sailors buried at sea: the flag draped casket with the union placed at the head over the left shoulder, the bugler, and the honor guard gently lifting the casket for the sailor’s placement at sea.

Let us never forget the meaning of Memorial Day. Let us never forget the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedoms we enjoy today.

Let us never forget the Gold Star families, those among us who bear the ultimate burden of burying their loved ones. Pray for these families, pray for the fallen, thank them all for their service to our country.

To all men and women who have passed serving our blessed country, we honor you, we respect you and most importantly we love you.

Our prayer to you:

Lord, thank you for providing us with the greatest country this world has ever seen. Thank you for raising and bringing to us the most courageous men and women of our country, The Marine, the Soldier, the Sailor, the Airman, the Coast Guardsman and the Guardians.

Lord, we give thanks to the Gold Star families for their sacrifices and raising heroes for our country.

Lord, please continue to give us all strength and continue to es**rt these heroes as we continue to battle the forces who wish to cause harm to our great country and people.

Lord, as we honor those who serve you, we love you. Continue to give us guidance, comfort, and strength.

Lord, continue to protect those who serve us and serve you. In Jesus name AMEN.
