Yesterday, April 22, students in K - 5 helped to honor the 50th celebration of Earth Day in a project based learning experience. Students recycled discarded items to turn them into something new and useful. Their creativity and innovation are inspiring! Take a moment to enjoy!

April 1, 2020 Update: Good evening! You may be asking if there will be any changes to our Instructional Continuity Distance Learning plans after the Governor's Stay at Home Order announced today.

We are still here for you. Public school systems perform essential services in providing student meals and continuing distance education. We will continue to provide meals at the designated sites, and teachers and staff will continue to contact students to provide instruction and support using distance learning through packet and online platforms.

We encourage everyone to take the Governor's order seriously. Many of our staff and students have family members in the medical field, or are in emergency response and law enforcement. These extended members of our school families are on the front lines during this crises, and they need our cooperation and support.

Also - there has been an April Fool's prank going around that the Governor announced students would repeat this entire year. -- That is NOT true.

During this first week of distance learning, we have seen many wonderful posts of positive acts of kindness and people letting each other know they are not alone. We will move forward one day at a time with the knowledge that in time, "Everything will be OK." Stay safe #TornadoesTogether

This just in...we will follow up with more specific information for our school district later this evening.

Gov. DeSantis to Floridians: Stay home except for essential services

This just in...we will follow up with more specific information for our school district later this evening.

With the number of Floridians and visitors to the state tested positive for coronavirus likely to surpass 7,000 by the end of the day and deaths from the disease inching toward 100, Gov. Ron DeSantis is under mounting pressure to issue a statewide stay-at-home order to combat the outbreak

The College Board
03/23/2020

The College Board

We know the coronavirus has created challenges for AP students and teachers. Here’s how the College Board will support you during this time:

1️⃣ We’re providing free, live and on-demand AP courses

To support AP students affected by school closures due to COVID-19, students and schools will have access to live AP review lessons, delivered by AP teachers from across the country. Lessons will begin March 25.

2️⃣ We’re developing a new at-home testing option

Because of the challenges created by COVID-19, we’re developing a new at-home AP Exam option. Students will be able to test on a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

We will invest so that every AP student impacted by COVID-19 has the tools and connectivity they need to review AP content online and take the exam from home.

During this challenging time, we will work to give every AP student the opportunity to earn the college credit and placement they’ve been working toward all year while maintaining a focus on the health and safety of our AP community.

As of 5:10 p.m., the State Board of Education announced new directives for schools to remain closed through April 15th. Following spring break, We will be activating our Instructional Provision Plan. This plan will allow our students to choose from multiple pathways and provide our students with standards based instruction, and connection to their teachers through various communication platforms. In the coming days, we will clarify the process to be followed by parents and students to fully understand the program they will be using at home. Please continue to check our website, and monitor District social media platforms, for additional information regarding this new resource. We are awaiting information regarding waiving missed instructional minutes, testing requirements, and graduation requirements. What we currently know is that all state assessments for the remainder of the
year will be canceled, and school systems have been asked not to conduct any events that require more than 10 people gathering in a space. We understand that as the situation continues to evolve, the sharing of information may result in additional questions. As a district, we will continue to work with the state as they release new information, and make sure that we are making the most informed decisions in the best interest of our school community.
