You may never have to figure out how to get a bomb or other ordnance item that can weigh up to 2 thousand pounds out of a structure after it's been rendered safe, but EOD techs do. There's no school like the old school. Classic Bomb Disposal goodness. Mmmmmmm....tasty!

P.S. there was also some sweet Chemical training supported by an amazing visiting SME that brought an incredible level of knowledge and insight to the 221st, IYKYK. Our deepest gratitude to that SME.

Congratulations to CSM Kendrick for this amazing achievement!!!
CSM Kendrick served in our unit as an EOD Team Member, EOD Team Leader and our First Sergeant as a part of his amazing Military journey. We are so proud of our former member and appreciate the years of dedicated leadership and profound service he's given at every echelon of the Florida Nation Guard. We know his tenure as the Army National Guard Command Sergeant Major will be simply outstanding!

Earlier today, Governor Ron DeSantis took the opportunity to congratulate Command Sgt. Maj. Brian Kendrick on his recent selection as the 14th CSM for the Army National Guard and to thank him for his many years of service to the great state of Florida.

“Brian is a tireless leader who demonstrates the knowledge, experience, and vision to lead the Army National Guard at the national level,” said Maj. Gen. John D. Haas, The Adjutant General of Florida.

The Florida National Guard would like to join Maj. Gen. Haas and Governor DeSantis in congratulating Kendrick on his selection. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors!

Merry Christmas to all from the 221st EOD!

"As for the armies of the Revolution, any holiday, religious or secular, meant a lot to soldiers no matter their duties. An important aspect of any celebration was the possibility of a special meal to fill their bellies and the opportunity for feeling some small connection with homes left behind. The soldiers’ holidays were a curious admixture of hunger and bounty, pain and cheer, nostalgia and comradeship, with a healthy dose of humor thrown in for good measure."
