BEGINNING TODAY! Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District is excited to offer our annual federally funded Summer Food Service Program again during the month of June at Henderson Ward Stewart Elementary Cafeteria. Nutritious meals will be provided Monday through Friday, June 1-26, free of charge to children 18 years of age and under. Meals will be provided on a first come, first served basis.

OUTDOOR WARNING SIREN TEST

Due to the potential for rain and increased cloud coverage across our area, the regularly scheduled Outdoor Warning Siren Test has been canceled for this month.

To ensure system readiness, Oktibbeha County Emergency Management will conduct a **silent test** at 12 noon of the siren system. No sirens will sound during this test.

There is **no emergency and no threat to the public**. Residents do not need to take any action and should **not contact 9-1-1** regarding this test.

Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to maintain and test our public warning systems to help keep Oktibbeha County safe.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH ISSUED

The National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch #261 for Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, effective until 7:00 PM CDT this evening.

Residents are encouraged to remain weather aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings should conditions deteriorate. Severe thunderstorms may produce damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall.

Charge mobile devices
Monitor trusted weather sources throughout the day

Flash Flood Threat Update for Oktibbeha County

The National Weather Service is forecasting periods of heavy rainfall across Oktibbeha County beginning today and continuing through Friday.

⚠️ Today:
Localized flash flooding is possible, especially in low-lying and urban areas. Some locations could receive heavy rainfall in a short amount of time, which may lead to flooded roads and minor river flooding.

⚠️ Wednesday Through Friday:
Additional rounds of heavy rainfall remain possible each day through Friday with continued concerns for localized flash flooding.

Please remember:
✔ Never drive through flooded roadways
✔ Turn Around, Don’t Drown
✔ Stay weather aware and monitor updates
✔ Use caution during periods of heavy rain
✔ Be prepared for possible road closures and travel delays

Oktibbeha County Emergency Management will continue monitoring conditions and coordinating with local and state partners.

For Oktibbeha County, the latest outlook from the National Weather Service places the county in a:

🟢 Marginal Risk (Level 1) for severe weather late this afternoon through Monday morning.

Main Threats:

• Isolated severe storms possible
• Damaging wind gusts
• Hail up to quarter size

Timing:
Mainly after 4 PM today through Monday morning

What This Means:

While widespread severe weather is not expected in Oktibbeha County at this time, a few storms could still become strong and produce:

Gusty winds
Small hail
Heavy rain at times
Recommended Actions:

✔ Stay weather aware this evening
✔ Have multiple ways to receive warnings
✔ Charge phones and devices
✔ Keep umbrellas and rain gear ready
✔ Monitor updates in case conditions change

The higher severe weather threat is currently expected farther west across portions of central and western Mississippi.
