Mass Media Law Mass Media Law Students will learn about the major U.S.

Study and analysis of laws and regulations significantly affecting newspapers, magazines, motion pictures, and broadcasting (plus online media) in America. court cases that have shaped mass media law in the 20th and 21st centuries and the Federal Communications Commission, which regulates all electronic media. Specifically, students will learn about the First Amendment; libel and privacy laws; law

s related to newsgathering and dissemination; the free press versus fair trial dynamic; obscenity law; telecommunications regulation; and advertising regulation. Students will present a legal case to the class; write two thought papers; and be administered a midterm and final to test their mastery of the material.
