The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi, FBI, and Starkville Police Department will hold a joint press conference today at 1:00 p.m.

The press conference will be streamed live on the Starkville Police Department’s page.

‼️ Friday and Saturday Nights‼️

The Starkville Police Department operates a safety zone and rideshare pickup/drop off in the Cotton District on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. This is designed to support public safety in high-traffic areas.

The rideshare pickup/drop off location will continue operating from the same location used since the 2024 change.

The Hannah Pote Run for Education 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 8:00 A.M., honoring the memory and legacy of Hannah Pote, a dedicated SHS student-athlete who tragically lost her life in a car accident in 1997.

Our officers are proud to participate in this meaningful event and support the Starkville Oktibbeha School District. They have been training and preparing for the race and are excited to join the community in an event that gives back to our local schools.

Funds raised will directly support teacher grants and special school projects throughout the district.

Please be aware that there may be intermittent traffic delays along the route during the event. We appreciate your patience and understanding as our officers and community come together to honor Hannah’s legacy and support education in Starkville.
