In this unique dual-role position, you'll conduct fire and life safety inspections, enforce and interpret fire and building codes, support public education and fire prevention efforts, perform post-fire safety evaluations, and provide Firefighter/Driver-Operator support to the Alpha Fire Company.

Applications are due June 21, 2026. Firefighter/Driver-Operator Skills Assessments will be held on July 1, 2026.
Candidates must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license and be at least 21 years of age to operate fire apparatus.

On April 22, 2026, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) hosted the 30th Annual Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence in Harrisburg. Held in conjunction with Pennsylvania Local Government Day, the ceremony honored individuals, municipalities, and organizations for their commitment to strengthening communities across the Commonwealth.

Staff from COG Administration traveled to Harrisburg to accept a Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence on behalf of the COG, which was recognized for its fiscal accountability and effective management practices in developing the Strategic Guide to Services and Investments (SGSI).

The SGSI streamlines budget development by integrating the Program Plan and Capital Improvement Plan processes into a single, transparent, and user-friendly document. It provides member municipalities and residents with a comprehensive, accessible view of proposed initiatives, staffing plans, and associated costs, strengthening transparency, coordination, and long-range financial planning across the COG.

Join the Centre Region Council of Governments and Penn State Dickinson Law for a Disaster Preparedness Workshop, focusing on better preparing our community for disaster response.

Friday April 10, 2026, register by 1:00pm, with the workshop following from 1:30pm-3:30pm, at the Wyndham Garden Hotel (310 Elks Road Boalsburg, PA. 16827).

The focus of this event will be on preparing for extended duration of power outages in combination with other risks (heat, flooding, snow, or ice). This exercise seeks to provide participants with insight into planning, preparedness and resilience practices that exist within the community as well as identify gaps and potential action steps.

This tabletop exercise is focused on the 6 communities within the Centre Region planning area but is open to all who might be interested in participating, including emergency response, elected and government officials, non-profits, local businesses, and community members.

This event is free and open to all.
