The Centre Region Planning Agency (CRPA) has scheduled a series of Joint Elected Officials and Planning Commission meetings to review and discuss the Future Land Use Map (FLUM) for each municipality as part of the ongoing Comprehensive Plan update. We encourage your participation in this process, as these discussions will help shape future land use policy, development patterns, and growth decisions across the Centre Region.

Each municipal meeting will focus on the host municipality’s Future Land Use Map. A final Open House will be held at the Centre Region Council of Governments to provide an opportunity for feedback on all municipalities.

Prior to the meeting, an open house will be held to allow residents and stakeholders to ask questions and provide input. During the joint meeting, CRPA staff will present the updated land use map and revised land use categories for review and discussion by the municipality’s governing body and Planning Commission. Building on the Future Land Use Primer previously shared, these meetings will bring together elected officials and Planning Commissioners to consider how updated land use categories, regional development capacity, and community priorities should be reflected in the FLUM.

If you are unable to attend your municipal meeting, or if you would like to provide additional input, CRPA will also host an Open House on Monday, June 22 at 5:00 PM in the General Forum Room of the Centre Region Council of Governments.

On Thursday, May 21, 2026, Ferguson Township Police Officers joined law enforcement from across the Commonwealth to continue their longstanding partnership with the Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA) Torch Run. Together, they completed the final torch run leg of the journey that began in Pittsburgh on May 19th.

The journey isn't over yet....on June 4th, officers will proudly run the Flame of Hope into the opening ceremonies at Medlar Field to officially kick off the Summer Games. The community is invited to attend and cheer on these talented athletes!

For residents in Benner, College, Ferguson, Harris, & Patton Townships: There will be no refuse or recycling collection on Monday May 25, 2026, due to the Memorial Day holiday.

Collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. Friday's collections will take place on Saturday.

Summer Schedule: The collection start time schedule for summer daylight hours will begin at 6:00am between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Collection Crews to Start Early This Summer

From Memorial Day through Labor Day, our recycling crews will begin curbside collections one hour earlier to help beat the summer heat. Collection will start at 6:00 AM beginning Tuesday, May 26.

Please place your curbside recycling bins out earlier than usual during this time frame to ensure pickup.

This schedule change does not affect collections in State College Borough.

The Centre County Metropolitan Planning Organization (CCMPO) invites the public to review and comment on the draft Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and Air Quality Conformity Determination Report during a 30-day public review and comment period from:
Monday May 4 through Thursday June 4, 2026.

The TIP lists the proposed expenditure of federal, state, and municipal funds for road, bridge and public transit projects for the next four years. The Air Quality Conformity Report is prepared to ensure that the TIP conforms to the air quality goals in Pennsylvania's State Implementation Plan for meeting the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS).
