We meet weekly on Monday night at 7:00 pm at the fire station. Except for September, the first Monday night of each month is a business meeting usually followed by a Board of Directors meeting. Our Annual Meeting for the election of officers is the third Monday night in September. The other Monday nights in each month, except for holidays, we spent training at our station or in locations around th

e community. If you are interested in becoming a fire fighter or medical responder, come by and visit us. It is the toughest job you will ever love.

Enjoy the extra warmth today, because a classic weekend weather rollercoaster is on the way! Slightly warmer than normal temperatures today. A dry cold front with northerly winds will drop temperatures a few degrees below normal Sunday. Back to business as usual Monday with normal temperatures returning.

After over a week of active, wet weather, high pressure finally builds into the region, with clearing skies this morning. Mostly dry weather will remain in place through most of the weekend, though a few showers/storms cannot be ruled out in North Carolina at times. Seasonal temperatures are expected, with highs in the 70s/80s each day. By Sunday, high pressure wedges into the area, lowering highs into the 60s/70s. A few showers return Sunday night as a weak front pushes through.

Showers will once again be across the area this morning, tapering off midday before more showers/storms develop this afternoon. Storms could be severe, capable of producing isolated damaging wind gusts. The best chance for severe storms will be north of Lynchburg along the I-64 corridor where a Slight Risk is issued due to large hail also being a possibility there. In addition, A Marginal Risk for Excessive Rainfall remains across the entire area, with a Slight Risk for Western Greenbrier County in WV as localized flash flooding remains possible.

Due to a pattern shift and stalled frontal boundary across the Carolinas, showers will continue each day through the weekend. High pressure will be wedged in today, hindering thunderstorm development and keeping temperatures cool, with highs in the 60s. The wedge slowly erodes by Sunday, with highs back into the 70s, with showers/storms again possible. The southern Blue Ridge could see 1-2" of rain by the end of the weekend.
