First Community Bank in Elkin hosted a school supply drive and donated the supplies to us. A huge thank you to both of these community businesses for thinking of us. We appreciate your support.

Weekly message from Mr. Carpenter

We had a great full week back to school and are excited to have all of our students back on campus. Students will begin taking their DIBELS assessments this week. They take this assessment at the beginning of the year, the middle of the year, and the end of the year. DIBELS data gives our teachers important information for helping students grow in reading. On Monday, August 24, the PTO will be meeting at 4:30 in our school cafeteria. Please come out and see where you can support our school. Also, this week, our 3rd grade students will take the BOG test in reading on Wednesday, August 26. Parent letters have been sent home explaining this test and how we use the data. If your child is packing their lunch, please send something that doesn't need reheating. If you prefer to send something that needs to stay warm, a thermos is a great option. We will no longer have a microwave in the cafeteria.

Thank you all for a great first week back to school. It was great to see our campus full of life again. We are looking forward to a great full week this week. Our after-school program starts this week. If you haven't done so already and plan to utilize this service, please fill out the after-school application found on the SCS website (search after school care), or you can click this link if you have signed up for emails: https://www.surry.k12.nc.us/documents/parent-and-students/before-and-after-school-childcare/487524

Please call the school if you need help or have questions. Looking further out, our PTO will be meeting on Monday, August 24th from 4:30 pm-5:30 pm. Please come out and see how you can get involved to help our school. Also, if you have a preK student, staggered enrollment will begin on the 26th or 27th will all students on campus on the 28th.

Pleasant View Baptist Church is hosting a school supply give away on Saturday, August 15th at Foothills Grocery. The giveaway will be held from 10 am until 1pm.
