A BRAND-NEW playground for P.S. 56! 🛝🎉

Last year, the students at P.S. 56 asked for a new playground, but more importantly, one that ALL children, regardless of ability, could enjoy.

Recently, BP Vito Fossella stopped by P.S. 56 to celebrate the school’s beautiful new, fully accessible playground! Now, every child has a place to play, have fun, and just enjoy being a kid!

🎀 The Midland Beach Boardwalk will be a sea of pink on Sunday as thousands participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, which offers hope for those who have been impacted by the disease.

To raise awareness of the walk’s mission, Borough President Vito Fossella joined Denise Henick, the chair of this year’s walk and the director of administration at Stop & Stor, the corporate sponsor which has raised $15,000 toward breast cancer research; Antonio Coppola from the American Cancer Society; Lisa Pressman, the walk’s 2026 ambassador, and Dr. Ginny Mantello, the director of health wellness at Borough Hall, for a breast cancer awareness roundtable discussion.

The 1.5-mile walk begins with registration at 8 a.m. in Parking Lot 6 of the Midland Beach Plaza. A ribbon-cutting will take place at 9:30 a.m. and the walk will conclude at noon.

An update from Tottenville!

Following BP Vito Fossella’s call for action, NYC Department of Social Services Deputy Commissioner Jamar Hooks has committed to having this location cleaned up on October 23rd, a week from now.

We’d clean it up ourselves, but the law prevents us from doing so.

We appreciate the commitment and look forward to seeing the job get done. The people of Staten Island deserve nothing less!

This is WRONG for Tottenville and WRONG for Staten Island!

BP Vito Fossella is calling on the City to take action, clean up these conditions, and get those experiencing homelessness the help they need.

Our residents deserve better, and their quality of life must come first!
