It’s hard to put into words just how meaningful our 2026 APDA Iowa Annual Conference was.
The connections.
The education.
The encouragement.
The sense of community.
Our theme this year was "Connected in Community. Strengthened by Support.", and these photos reflect exactly that. From the conversations and shared experiences to the learning and laughter, this day reminded us of the power of coming together.
Thank you to everyone who attended! Your strength, resilience, and support of one another inspires us every day and gives purpose to our mission and the work we do.
A special thank you to our speakers, vendors, sponsors, and Lutheran Church of Hope for opening your doors and welcoming us so graciously.
Together, we are making a difference in the lives of those impacted by PD.
We are already looking forward to seeing you next year!

Parkinson’s diagnoses have been rising steadily — but federal research investment hasn’t kept up. We need bold action, and YOU can help.

Tell Congress to accelerate research funding, including reaching $600M annually at NIH by FY 2028, to drive prevention, earlier diagnosis, better treatments, and cures.

Take action through APDA’s Advocacy Action Center today: https://www.apdaparkinson.org/votervoice-get-involved/

When Parkinson’s affects your sleep, it affects everything else too — energy, mood, and daily routines. Insomnia, restless leg syndrome, frequent nighttime awakenings, excessive daytime sleepiness, and more are all common for people with PD and can impact quality of life.

Learn more about these sleep issues, potential solutions, and how to build “sleep‑smart” routines in our downloadable guide: Parkinson’s Disease and Sleep.

Singing can do more than lift your spirits — it can help people with PD strengthen their voice, support breathing, and feel more connected through music.

What’s a song you love to sing along to — the one that always makes you feel better? Share it in the comments so we can create a feel‑good playlist together!

Creative activities like visual arts, music, dancing, and writing can be powerful lifelines for people with PD — helping them connect with others, express themselves, and maintain a sense of identity beyond their disease. Some creative hobbies can also support visual‑cognitive skills, hand dexterity, motor function, and more.

APDA offers a variety of creative programs for people with PD and their care partners — virtually and in communities nationwide. Explore what’s available and join us!

ATTENTION NEW YORK RESIDENTS!

New York has only 1 day to act. The Legislature adjourns TOMORROW — and a vote to ban paraquat, a toxic pesticide linked to Parkinson's disease is within reach.

If you live in New York, please call your state legislator TODAY and urge them to pass a ban before time runs out!
