Storm Ready & Proactive

Bulloch County EMA is continuing to strengthen our community’s ability to prepare for and respond to severe weather and disasters.

As part of this initiative, EMA and Bulloch County VOAD partnered to expand available equipment and resources that can be used during storm response, debris removal, and recovery operations.

This is another step in EMA’s commitment to being more storm-ready, proactive, and prepared to respond before, during, and after an event. Working together with our community partners helps ensure Bulloch County is ready when our residents need us most.

Georgia Southern is doing it again! 🦅💙💛

The university is welcoming its largest incoming freshman class ever — more than 6,500 students! And with that comes plenty of traffic around campus and throughout Statesboro.

So, if you find yourself stuck in traffic this weekend… take a deep breath, turn up the music, and remember: 6,500 new Eagles have to get somewhere too! 😂

Let’s show them what the Boro is all about. Drive safe, be patient, be kind, and give these new Eagles a big True Blue welcome!

Welcome to the Boro, Class of 2030! 🦅

Last night commissioners approved separate contracts to install a bridge at GW Oliver Road and replace the bridge on Cypress Lake Road.

GW Oliver was damaged during Debby in 2024. The drainpipes will be replaced with a bridge. The understructure of the Cypress Lake Road bridge was damaged in May 2025 when a pickup truck went off the bridge and struck a wooden pylon and steel beam.

We have secured a majority of the funding for GW Oliver through FEMA/GEMA. The majority of funding for Cypress Lake Road will come through GDOT. The local funding will come through TSPLOST.

We anticipate both bridge structures being completed and the roads reopened Fall of next year, weather permitting.
