Smoke Alarm Blitz Success! 🚨

On May 30, the Statesboro Fire Department partnered with the American Red Cross to conduct a Smoke Alarm Blitz in several neighborhoods throughout our community. Thanks to the hard work of firefighters and those from the Red Cross, we installed 62 smoke alarms in 33 homes and provided valuable fire safety education to local families.

Working smoke alarms save lives by providing early warning in the event of a fire. We are proud to continue our commitment to keeping Statesboro safe through proactive outreach, education, and community partnerships.

A special thank you to the American Red Cross and all the volunteers who helped make this event a success!

Our firefighters had an incredible time at Camp RAD! It was awesome connecting with these amazing campers. They were able to learn about fire safety as well as how to use the fire hose!

Thank you to the organizers and the amazing counselors for having us out for yet another year. We are always honored to be able to share these moments with y'all!

We love doing all kinds of community events!

Today, we had the honor of welcoming retired fire inspector Dallas McPhee back to visit with our crew. We always appreciate the opportunity to connect with those who helped shape the fire service and paved the way for future generations of firefighters.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing stories, experiences, and wisdom with some of us. It was a pleasure having you at the station!

While the statewide burn ban has been lifted, we decided to go over a few things with the class before y'all get too crazy. So take your seats and listen carefully.

1. IF YOU LIVE WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS, you MUST CALL us at 912-764-3473 to be issued a burn permit! If not, we will shut it down faster than SPD shuts down someone riding their bike on the sidewalk (iykyk).

2. You may ONLY burn hand-stacked yard debris, such as twigs, sticks, pinecones, etc., even though the city will pick these up if you place them by the curb, but I digress. NO, you MAY NOT burn your microwave (yes, we had the same thought), your garbage, or your exes' sweatshirts (we've already been over this one).

3. Please use common sense and exercise caution while burning. Don’t leave fires unattended, and keep water nearby just in case the goonbobber down the street decides to blow up their kitchen appliances for tonight's cookout.

In Georgia, drivers are required to stop for a school bus loading or unloading passengers when the flashing lights are activated OR the stop arm is extended…even if the lights are no longer flashing.

A few extra seconds of patience can protect a child’s life. Stay alert, slow down, and help keep our students safe on their way to and from school.
