Artists in Ms. Googe's class stepped back in time yesterday!

This week, students explored the question of why artists research before beginning a project. They put their detective skills to work with a Medieval Times scavenger hunt, uncovering information that will help inspire their next creation.

Next, students collaborated with partners to plan and sketch ideas for their upcoming medieval-themed sculptures. It's exciting to see creativity, research, and teamwork come together as they bring history to life through art!

We can't wait to see these sculpture designs take shape. Don't worry, pictures will be posted as students are finishing their projects!

Ms. Armit's students were up and moving as they participated in a Histogram Scavenger Hunt and Dot Plot Scavenger Hunt, searching for clues and applying their knowledge of data displays in a fun, interactive way. To wrap up their learning, students worked through a Box Plot Review with their teacher, strengthening their understanding of how to analyze and interpret data.

Hands-on activities like these keep students engaged while building critical math skills and confidence. If you look closely, you can see our principal, Mr. Lancaster joining in on the phone. Great job to our mathematicians for their hard work and enthusiasm!

Mr. Crocker's students became environmental investigators and teachers during a recent Poster Gallery Walk!

Students researched major environmental disasters, including the Chernobyl Disaster, Acid Rain in Germany's Black Forest, and the Great Smog of London. They created informative posters highlighting the causes, effects, and solutions associated with each event while showcasing their creativity through colorful visuals and original designs.

During the gallery walk, students explored one another's work, asked questions, and learned how environmental events have shaped policies and practices around the world. This engaging activity strengthened research, communication, and critical thinking skills while helping students make connections between history, science, and environmental responsibility.

We are excited to explore interest in a Vision Board Workshop designed for middle school students and their parent or guardian!

This interactive experience will give families the opportunity to: Explore goals together

Reflect on dreams and aspirations
Strengthen communication and connection

Vision boards are a powerful way to turn goals into a visual reminder of the future you want to create. Whether you're thinking about academics, athletics, careers, personal growth, or family goals, this workshop will help spark meaningful conversations and inspiration.

Ms. Vandiver's students kicked off class with a Galaxy Sort, working alongside a partner to carefully examine images of galaxies and create their own categories based on observable features. Through discussion, critical thinking, and collaboration, students practiced the skills scientists use to classify and analyze objects in our universe.

The excitement continued with their weekly House STEM Challenge! Every student belongs to a house team, and each Friday they work together to earn points in a friendly competition. This week's challenge tasked students with using only strips of paper and tape to design and build a structure that could hold a book the greatest distance from the table. Creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and a little bit of engineering all came into play as students tested their designs and cheered on their housemates.

We love seeing our students think like scientists, collaborate like engineers, and have fun while learning!

Things got a little competitive in Ms. Session's Family & Consumer Science class today as students took part in a Dishwashing Relay Challenge!

Students raced against the clock (and each other!) to properly wash, rinse, dry, and put dishes back in their designated area while practicing important kitchen safety and sanitation skills. There were plenty of laughs, lots of teamwork, and a few students who discovered they can apparently wash dishes at record-breaking speeds!

Who knew cleaning up could be this much fun? We're pretty sure some of these students were channeling their inner NASCAR driver on the way to the sink!

Historians in Mr. Oates classes are currently creating dioramas that showcase the lives of American Indians in Georgia before and during the time of European contact. As they research and build, they are exploring the cultures, foods, shelters, and tools used by Georgia's American Indian groups, gaining a deeper understanding of the state's earliest inhabitants.

Students are also connecting their learning to the founding of Savannah by examining the important relationship between James Oglethorpe, Tomochichi, and Mary Musgrove and how their collaboration helped establish the city at Yamacraw Bluff.

This engaging project allows students to combine historical research with creativity while bringing Georgia History Standards to life. We are excited to see these impressive dioramas and the learning they represent!

Our 7th grade mathematicians in Ms. Wiegman's room put their problem-solving skills to the test during an exciting Integer Escape Room challenge!

Working in 7 collaborative teams, students tackled a variety of integer-based puzzles and multi-step contextual problems involving rational numbers. Each solved challenge unlocked the next activity, bringing them one step closer to "escaping" the room!

The competition was fierce as groups worked together, explained their thinking, checked each other's reasoning, and persevered through challenging tasks. The first team to successfully complete all of the puzzles earned bragging rights and a special prize!

Learning is always more powerful when students are actively engaged, collaborating, and having fun. AMAZING job to all of our problem-solvers for demonstrating teamwork, perseverance, and strong mathematical thinking!
