Middle River Regional Jail mourns the loss of Jocelyn Raven Bedow, a valued member of our team who passed away on January 14, 2026.

Jocelyn served as a forensic discharge planner and was known for her compassion, professionalism, and dedication to helping others. She will be deeply missed by her colleagues.

We extend our sincere condolences to her family and loved ones and ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.

Middle River Regional Jail regrets the loss of retired Officer Joseph Miller. Joe was a local institution, a man who always went out of the way for his friends and for strangers, and dedicated his life to helping others.

We have been made aware of recent scams where callers claiming to be the jail will ask individuals to transfer money to post bond.

MRRJ staff will NEVER call you for financial information or request for bond. Please ignore said calls or refer them to your local law enforcement.

Our thoughts are with Corrections Officer Jeremy Lewis Hall's loved ones. An inmate at River North Correctional Center killed Hall Monday morning in what the Virginia Department of Corrections called a "vicious attack." Hall had been an employee with the VADOC since April 2024.
