Today is a bittersweet day, it is the final day for the longest employed member at Staunton Area Ambulance. EMT Mark Bryan is retiring after 43 years of service to the communities.

Mark has served the citizens of Staunton, Livingston, Williamson, New Douglas, and Worden selflessly for 43 years. With dedication comes sleepless nights, missed birthdays, worked holidays, and the making of friends. Mark knows no stranger and is always the first to jump in and help no matter the task. Anyone who knows Mark, knows he has a story to match any situation.

Mark will complete today’s shift but will always be welcome for coffee. Happy Retirement B133, it is well deserved sir.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

Today, SAAS EMS held its EMS Week BBQ. These pictures show a small glimpse into our close knit bunch. Families interacting, our board president showing the next generation how to take a bluegill off the hook, and first time experiences for some. EMT Chidi had never fished a day in his life until today, then ended up winning our fishing challenge. Congratulations!!!

If you look closely though the pictures we had a special visitor drop by, Sonny the Eagle. 🦅

For some their job is just a job but at SAAS EMS we take pride in moments and days like this. Thank you to everyone who took time to share this day with us.

SAAS EMS is offering an EMR class beginning in July. This is an entry level medical certification that is crucial for local fire departments. Many departments are in need of medical personnel to assist with medical and fire calls. If you wish to help your community or are already on a department, this class is a valuable asset to further your knowledge. SAAS EMS has teamed up with Macoupin County Public Health Department to offer CHAD stickers at our department. These are information stickers that go on a car seat in the the event a caregiver has a medical or traumatic emergency. These are free of charge and can be picked up Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
