The Virginia Association of First Responders held their 2025 Convention last week in Harrisonburg. Two of our own received prestigious awards recognizing their dedication to the organization and EMS over the years. Kim Craig was inducted into the Hall of Fame. This is an honor earned by few and reflects a true compassion and dedication to the association and field. Kim is our Executive Direcror and leads our agency with grace each day, striving to ensure that our services to the community are second to none. She is a pillar of the EMS community as a whole with unparalleled contributions that have left an enormous impact on the growth and progression of prehospital care in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Frank Smith received his Life Membership for his many years of service both volunteer and career. Frank has dedicated tireless hours to the association and various agencies and continues to play a vital role in prehospital education across the state. He is a Paramedic and crew leader here at SARS and Captain with Campbell County Public Safety.
We are honored to work alongside both of these individuals and hope that you will join us in congratulating them on these amazing accomplishments!

We extend our deepest condolences to Mandy McComas, Steve Reese and family on the passing of their loved one Zack Reese. Our thoughts and prayers extend to the City of Staunton Fire and Rescue Department for the loss of their beloved Firefighter brother. We all mourn the loss of a cherished friend in our EMS and Fire Community. He was truly one of the good ones, who always had a smile on his face. His dedication to the Fire Service was unwavering. He was selfless, generous, brave and always ready to answer the call to protect others. May his legacy live on through the lives of those he has touched. He will remain in our memories and in our hearts.
