Here is another tip: Only flush toilet paper down the toilet! How does this impact water quality? These 'DO NOT FLUSH' items listed below can cause blockages and sewer overflows. Sewer overflows can end up in our local streams. Help keep our community water clean by flushing ONLY toilet paper 👍

Keep toxic chemicals out of our local waterways! Join us on September 12th to safely dispose of your household hazardous waste 👍

Household Hazardous Waste Day is coming up on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Waynesboro Facilities Shop (900 Essex Ave).

This is a free event for residents of Staunton, Augusta, and Waynesboro to safely dispose of items like oil-based paints, pesticides, gasoline, and propane tanks.

🛑 A few quick reminders:
• No business waste, unknown containers, or medications.
• No trailers are permitted.
• Water-based/latex paint is NOT hazardous and can be dried out and thrown in your normal trash.

The Friends of the Staunton Library are hosting their second Adopt-A-Spot litter cleanup event tomorrow July 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Help keep our library and community clean and learn more about the Friends! Meet up in front of the library's main entrance. The Friends will supply all necessary clean-up supplies, but please bring water and sun protection. The event is open to all, but individuals under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Have you seen this city vehicle on the road? This is a street sweeper, and it does much more than just keep our roads looking clean - it also helps protect our water quality! Street sweeping reduces stormwater pollution by picking up debri and pollutants before rain can wash them into our storm drains and local streams. Cleaner streets = cleaner water. A big thank you to our street sweeper operators 👏👏👏
