Yesterday, we partnered with Sublimity Fire District and the Oregon Department of Forestry to conduct a controlled burn in Stayton.

Controlled vegetation burns are an essential tool for reducing wildfire risk and protecting our community. By managing fire under the right conditions, crews clear excess brush, strengthen defensible space, and support healthier landscapes. These planned burns help prevent larger and more dangerous fires that could seriously impact our community.

Working Together to Keep Kids Safe!

A recent Car Seat Clinic hosted at Stayton Fire was a great example of what can happen when community partners come together with one shared goal: keeping kids safe on every ride.

During the two-hour event, certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians assisted families with 16 car seats, helping ensure children were riding as safely as possible.

This clinic was made possible through the collaboration of Stayton Fire District, Marion County Sheriff's Office, Marion & Polk Early Learning Hub, Inc., Keizer Fire District, Keizer Police Department, Oregon State Police, Oregon Department of Transportation, Santiam Hospital & Clinics, and Marion County Fire District No.1.

Each organization brought people, resources, and expertise to the event, allowing us to expand access to child passenger safety education and support for families throughout our communities.

A huge thank you to all of the technicians, partners, and families who participated. When agencies work together, we can reach more families and help make every ride a safer one.

We partnered with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office last week to host our Car Seat Clinic! This event helped local parents and supported car seat safety during the back‑to‑school season.

Earlier today, we assisted ODF on a vegetation fire near Fern Ridge. Seasonal firefighters from Stayton and Sublimity worked on scene to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. Thanks to the hard work of everyone involved, the fire was secured quickly.

The community is invited to attend this event in observance of the events that occurred on 9-11-2001, 25 years ago... The event will start at 0830 with first moment of silence at 0846 when the first tower was hit with bell ringing and lower of the flags to half-staff by the Stayton VFW. Following the first moment of silence there will be 6 more in memory of the event of that day. We will honor the men and women who lost there lives that day; 343 firefighters, 71 law enforcement, 55 military and 245 civilians on planes, 2603 at Trade Center Towers and 184 in the Pentagon. The Stayton VFW will be collecting retired American flags for proper retirement. The local Emergency services will have vehicles on display including the 1860 antique handpumper that will be rolled out of the museum. We invite the community to stop by and say hi, grab a commemorative cookie, and thank our responders.

The Child Car Seat Checkup is TODAY from 3:30PM to 5:30PM. We hope to see you there!

We are partnering with Marion County Sheriff’s Office to hold a Car Seat Clinic on Tuesday, August 25, from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm.

Trained Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be available to assist parents and caregivers with checking car seat installations, proper harness fit, selecting the appropriate seat or booster for their child, and answering general child passenger safety questions. Additionally, if you need assistance purchasing a car seat, we may be able to assist you.
