Important Update about this week's SHS Football Schedule

Dear Stayton High School Community,

We are writing to inform our community of a change to our upcoming athletics schedule. Stayton High School will forfeit this Friday night’s varsity football game against the Cascade Cougars and cancel the upcoming Monday evening JV contest.

A decision of this magnitude is never easy, and we recognize the frustration and disappointment this decision brings to our student-athletes, student body, families, and community members who love to gather to support our Eagles. However, due to a severe shortage of healthy players caused by numerous injuries over the past few days and weeks, our team will be unable to play this Friday. As student-athlete safety is our highest priority, district leadership has determined that not playing this weekend’s games is a necessary path forward.

We extend our sincere apologies to the Cascade School District, its administration, football coaching staff, players, and community. The rivalry and camaraderie between our two programs are cornerstones of our athletic cultures, and we deeply regret the inconvenience and disappointment this disruption causes to their team, families, and community.

Thank you for your patience and continued support of our SHS community as we prioritize the health and well-being of our student-athletes.

💫Carter Roberts is selected as the Stayton Area Rotary Student of the Month for October. 💫

The Stayton Area Rotary Club is proud to announce Carter Roberts as its latest Student of the Month for October, being recognized for his outstanding contributions across academics, athletics, leadership, and community service.

Maintaining an impressive 4.0 GPA, Carter’s academic dedication earned him the 2024 Business Student of the Year title and the 2026 Responsibility & Integrity Award, alongside his membership in the National Honor Society. His leadership is equally evident throughout his school community, where he serves as Chair of the ASB Activities Committee, an active member of both Link Crew and FBLA, and his sophomore year was Sophomore Class President.

Beyond the classroom, Carter took center stage as the male lead in the school’s theater production of Little Women—earning an induction into the Oregon Thespian Society. He also actively participates in the Jesus Club and volunteers as an Outdoor School Counselor.

An exceptionally well-rounded athlete, Carter has competed in cross country, football, basketball, and baseball. A two-time JV Player of the Year and 2nd Team All-Conference varsity cross country runner, he has demonstrated clear leadership on the field as a two-time baseball team captain.

Carter’s entrepreneurial and community spirit shines through his co-founding of the Oregon Wiffle Association, a local wiffleball league engaging over 40 neighborhood youth. In addition to balancing a job at Papa Murphy's, he stays deeply connected to his faith through weekly service at his church every Sunday. Looking ahead, Carter plans to attend Oregon State University to study either business or education with aspirations of becoming a teacher.

Carter’s impressive resume is a testament to his dedication, talent, and compassionate heart. His combination of academic excellence, athletic achievement, and selfless service is exactly what the Rotary Club seeks to celebrate.

Congratulations, Carter!

Stayton Area Rotary Names Myles Emmert September Student of the Month

The Stayton Area Rotary Club is proud to announce Myles Emmert as its latest September Student of the Month, celebrating an exceptional local high school senior who exemplifies dedication, leadership, and academic excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

Maintaining an impressive 4.0 cumulative GPA, Myles has earned a spot on the Honor Roll and received the Stayton City Hall 4.0 Recognition every single semester. Pushing the boundaries of high school academics, he has already completed an abundance of honors and college-credit courses, with plans to complete more before graduation.

Beyond the classroom, Myles’s drive extends to the athletic field and pool. A three-sport varsity athlete in football, baseball, and swimming, he has earned Academic All-State honors every year across all sports. His passion for athletics also reaches into youth sports, where he gives back to the community by working as an NSYA football referee and a local baseball umpire.

Leadership and community involvement are at the heart of Myles’s high school career. As a Link Crew Leader, he helps guide underclassmen, while actively participating in the National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). He is also deeply involved in faith and inclusion initiatives through the Jesus Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and the Unified Club.

Demonstrating a strong work ethic, Myles has balanced his busy schedule with employment at Hiatt Christmas Tree Farms and a local car wash. His commitment to service includes two years on the Stayton 7 Panel, four years of volunteering at the Oregon Jamboree, and consistent support for the local Booster Auction.

Looking ahead, Myles plans to pursue opportunities to play college baseball while majoring in business and finance. The Stayton Area Rotary Club congratulates Myles Emmert on this well-deserved honor and wishes him continued success in his future academic and athletic endeavors.

Congratulations, Myles!
