Don't forget that on Saturday, December 1st, the annual Community Christmas tree lighting will take place, kicking off 2012 Winterfest, themed "A Centennial Christmas." Hope to see a lot of people continue to support the centennial events!

We had a wonderful turnout this morning for our brunch honoring McCreary County's seniors. Thank you to everyone who came out in support of the honorees, and to all those who worked to put the event together.

We will be honoring our McCreary County Citizens 75 and older tomorrow, November 2, 2012 at the Senior Citizen Center at 10:00 a.m. we will be serving a light brunch and lots of memories of their early years here in McCreary County. Please pass the word or come by and give thanks to these strong sturdy stock of people that have kept the light shining and has been an inspiration to all of us.

Food is being provided by Milton’s Burger Hut, Kroger, IGA, Huddle House, KY Fried Chicken along with door prizes from many groups.

Don't forget: In honor of our senior citizens, November 2, 2012 (Friday) has been designated as McCreary Centennial Senior Day in McCreary County. On November 2 at 10:00 a.m., all McCreary County residents, seventy-five years and older, are invited to attend a special brunch at the Senior Citizens’ Center at the McCreary County Park. The Senior Brunch is being hosted by the Centennial Committee, Historical Society, McCreary County Public Library, and Senior Citizens’ Center.

Everyone needs to plan to come for McCrearyFest, October 6, 2012. The Centennial Committee will hold a ceremony toward the end of the day to seal a centennial time capsule at the McCreary County Courthouse. www.mccrearyfest.com.

As of 4/9/2012 Centennial Cookbooks are available at the Bank of McCreary County (Main Branch and Pine Knot Branch), Bestway Beauty Shop, Forcht Bank (Main Branch and Pine Knot Branch), Kroger U-Save, McCreary County Museum, McCreary County Public Library. Stearns Restaurant, Sweet Kreations and Tower Crafts.


Mail order copies are also available through the McCreary County Museum - Post Office Box 452 Stearns, Kentucky 42647.
Cookbooks are $15.00 each plus $7.00 shipping and handling.
