Our first day of the summer reading at the library was a huge success!! Thank you, Shana Spence and Raegan Mitchell. All the children had a great time. The older ones are reading “Holes” and doing a book club with activities and discussions. The youngest will have different readers each week with activities. Snacks are also provided. All children are welcome. See you next week!!!!

Would anyone be interested in volunteer to do a book club this summer for out 4-8 graders who come to the summer reading program? You would choose a book for them to read over the summer and meet with them weekly with discussion on the chapter(s) read that week well and activities. It will be Tuesday afternoons May 19-July 21. Help us celebrate the 250th anniversary of America by submitting your art work or essay! Deadline for entry is June 30. I already have one adult who is entering an essay. Bring your submissions to the library any time before June 30. The earlier, the better. We will display the art work as it comes in. Cash prizes for winners!!

The Steele Public Library will host an art and essay contest for the celebration of the 250th Anniversary of America. The poster has the age categories. All entries can be brought to the library between now and June 30. A cash prize will be given to first place in each category. You can do any form of art work with the theme of America or write an essay with the same theme. Let’s have fun with this. Winners will be announced before the fireworks display July 4th at the Joe Saliba Park.
