Burn restrictions are now in effect in Kidder County.

"...Fire Emergency and Burn Restriction (to include a ban and restriction on controlled burns, crop residue burning, fireworks, garbage burning, and campfires) remain in effect when the North Dakota Fire Danger Rating is in the Extreme, Very High, or High and/or a Red Flag Warning has been issued, until further notice for Kidder County, North Dakota. Additionally, burning will be allowed with a Low or Moderate Fire Danger Rating upon approval of the local fire response authority who has jurisdiction over the designated area in Kidder County, North Dakota.

What’s Included
Open Burning: Includes burning of leaves, grass clippings, garbage/pits, construction debris, fallen trees, controlled burns, crop residue or hay land, sloughs, and campfires/bonfires.

What’s Excluded
Controlled Devices: Only when device (gas, charcoal, or wood-fired grills, patio fireplaces and chimneys, gas camp stoves, and smokers) is on a hard, non-organic surface and 15’ away from vegetation and an extinguisher or water is available on site.

THE PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF THIS BURN RESTRICTION IS A CLASS B MISDEMEANOR
(NDCC 37-17.1-10.1: MAXIMUM SENTENCE OF 30 DAYS IN JAIL AND $1,500 FINE).

North Dakota is preparing for a potential pause in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits beginning November 1, should the federal government shutdown continue. While the state has funding to support the program, North Dakota cannot issue benefits without federal authorization, leaving many households at risk of temporarily losing access to food assistance. First Security Bank in Robinson and Kidder County Emergency Management worked with the Governor's Office, Bank of North Dakota, and ND DES to expand this program's eligibility to include the August storm (previously only damage from the June 20 storm was eligible).

The Grain Storage & Facility Rebuilder Programs are designed to provide timely financial support to North Dakota’s agricultural producers who were impacted by the severe weather events between June 2025 and August 2025.
