Town of Steele Steele is a small town in the northeastern tip of St. Located in the northeastern corner of St. As of the 2010 census, the population of Steele was 1,043.

Clair County, Alabama, on the edge of Etowah County, approximately 13 miles from Gadsden and 40 miles from Birmingham. Clair County, Alabama, the Town of Steele was founded in 1850 and incorporated in 1952. As part of the Birmingham-Hoover metropolitan area, Steele is among the fastest growing areas in the state of Alabama. With easy access to Interstate 59, the Town of Steele can reach Birmingham

in 40 miles and Chattanooga, TN in 90 miles. The Town of Steele boasts one of the most diverse economies in the region. There will be a Special Called Water Board Meeting held on Monday April 6, 2026 at 6:00 PM. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss a Resolution regarding the ADECA Grant and to discuss the newly hired Water Operator.
