May Library Calendar

May 5, 4-6p.m. - Movie: Freaky Friday (2003)
A stressed-out mother and her sullen daughter magically swap bodies in this charming remake of the 1977 comedy. Based on the novel by Mary Rodgers. Rated PG, 1 hour & 37 minutes.

May 6, 3-4p.m. - Lego Club
This is the final Lego Club this school year.

May 7, 4-6p.m. - Karaoke
Sing karaoke or lip-sync to your favorite songs. This month’s song theme is “90’s Best,” however songs that don’t fit the theme are also welcome. Children under 13 need parental permission as some songs can have some adult language.

May 8, 4:15 p.m. - Adult Book Club
We will be discussing and trying recipes from Open Wide: A Cookbook for Friends by Benny Blanco and picking up A Lady’s Guide to Marvels and Misadventures by Angela Bell.

May 13, 3-4p.m. - Craft Club
Children need to be picked up promptly after craft club this month as the library will be closing at 4:30. This is the final Craft Club this school year.

May 19, 2p.m.-4:40p.m. - Movie: Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
Best Picture winner about British POWs who are forced by their captors to build a railroad bridge in World War II Indochina. A battle of wills is fought between the ramrod Allied commander and the brutal camp commandant who faces death if the vital rail link isn't completed on time. Rated PG, 2 hours & 35 minutes.

May 20 - There will be no story hour this month while we prepare for summer reading.

May 20, 3-4p.m. - Afternoon Tea
Enjoy tea, snacks, and conversation! Tea will be the 3rd Wednesday each month. We ask that you please do not bring food and drinks to share at afternoon tea, as each month’s menu has been carefully curated to compliment that month’s tea.

There is no Flour Power Hour this month. Join us again in June!

Summer Reading is Coming!
Summer Reading Program registration begins May 26. This year our program will run from June 1 through July 25, and the theme is Plant a Seed: READ!. Summer Reading is for ALL AGES. Teen Programs (6th-12) every Monday, Camp READ (PreK-5th) on Wednesdays, family movies every Friday, adult & all ages programs on select Tuesdays and Thursdays, and karaoke every other Thursday! You’ll receive a full calendar of events when you sign up!

Free GED/HSE Classes are available at the library Mondays-Thursdays!
Free ESL tutoring is also available at the library. Classes and tutoring are provided by the Monroe/Randolph Regional Office of Education. Call the library and ask for Kim for more information.
