THANK YOU!πŸ—πŸ»

Because of this amazing community, the Steeleville Fire Department Chicken & Beer Dance raised over $3,000!

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came out to support β€” whether you bought a ticket, donated, volunteered, or just showed up ready to have a good time. You made the night a huge success.

A huge thank you to the Steeleville Eagles for hosting us β€” we truly appreciate your support and generosity.

And to everyone who helped fry chicken… you are the real MVPs. πŸ”₯πŸ— We know that’s no small task, and we appreciate every bit of time and effort that went into making it all happen.

Last night, the Percy Fire Department was called to a structure fire east of town. As always, when the call goes out, neighboring departments answer without hesitation.

On behalf of the Percy Fire Department and Steeleville Fire Department, we want to extend a sincere thank you to MedStar Ambulance, Chester Fire Department, Sparta Fire Department, Cutler Fire Department, and Willisville Fire Department for their aid and support.

Structure fires take teamwork, manpower, and coordination. A unified effort from every department on scene reflects what makes our fire service stronger.

πŸ”₯ Cold Weather Fire Safety Reminder πŸ”₯

As temperature drops are coming, we want to help keep everyone safe and warm.

Please keep these tips in mind:

🧯 Avoid overloading outlets
Plugging too many devices into one outlet or power strip can cause overheating and fires. Use outlets as intended and never daisy-chain extension cords.

πŸ”₯ Use space heaters safely
β€’ Keep heaters at least 3 feet away from anything flammable
β€’ Plug heaters directly into the wall, not extension cords
β€’ Turn them off when leaving the room or going to bed

🏠 Fireplace & wood stove safety
β€’ Have chimneys and fireplaces cleaned and inspected regularly
β€’ Use a fireplace screen and never leave a fire unattended
β€’ Make sure ashes are completely cool before disposal

⚑ Check cords & electrical devices
β€’ Replace frayed or damaged cords
β€’ Don’t run cords under rugs or furniture
β€’ Unplug items when not in use

🚨 Test your smoke detectors
Cold weather is the perfect reminder to test smoke alarms and replace batteries if needed.

🚰 Prevent frozen pipes
β€’ Let faucets drip during extreme cold
β€’ Open cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate
β€’ Never use open flames to thaw frozen pipe

A little prevention goes a long way. Let’s keep our homes warm and safe this winter! ❀️‍πŸ”₯m

We had a great time welcoming the kids from St. Mark’s to the firehouse! They got to tour the station, check out our trucks and equipment, and learn about the importance of fire safety.

Thank you to the teachers and students for visiting β€” we hope you had as much fun as we did!

Our current and retired firefighters, along with their families, came together for a special Family Day filled with food, fun, and fellowship.

It was a chance to relax, enjoy time with loved ones, and celebrate the support that makes our fire family so strong, both in and out of the station.

A huge thank you to all the families who joined us. We couldn’t do what we do without you.

πŸ”₯πŸš’ It’s Fire Prevention Week! πŸš’πŸ”₯

This year’s theme is β€œFire Won’t Wait. Plan Your Escape.”
A fire can spread through your home in a matter of minutes, having a plan can save lives.

βœ… Make sure your family has two ways out of every room.
βœ… Practice your home fire drill at least twice a year.
βœ… Check your smoke alarms - test them monthly and replace batteries as needed.
βœ… Talk to your kids about what to do if the alarm sounds.

The Steeleville Fire Department is committed to keeping our community safe, but prevention starts at home. Let’s work together to protect what matters most. ❀️
