This weekend, several members of our fire department had the privilege of attending a School Bus Motor Vehicle Accident Training in Owensville.
The training began Friday evening with a classroom portion, where our firefighters learned essential techniques and procedures for responding to school bus accidents. On Sunday morning through the afternoon, our crews put their knowledge and skills to the test through hands-on training scenarios.
The training consisted of two different scenarios:
• School bus rollover
• Vehicle lodged underneath a school bus
During these scenarios, our firefighters practiced safe and effective extrication techniques, learned how to identify the safest vantage points, and gained valuable experience stabilizing vehicles in the most efficient manner possible.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Owensville Fire Department for organizing and hosting this valuable training and for allowing our crews to participate.
A special thank-you to Captain Keagan Sturheit for instructing the course and sharing his knowledge and expertise with our firefighters.
We greatly appreciate the opportunity to continue training, improving our skills, and preparing to better serve our community.
