Children’s Ibuprofen Recall Notice

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a nationwide recall of certain children’s ibuprofen products due to possible contamination.

Product Information:

Children’s Ibuprofen Oral Suspension, 100 mg per 5 mL

4 oz (120 mL) bottles

Affected Lot Numbers:

7261973A

7261974A

Expiration Date:

January 31, 2027

Reason for Recall: The product may contain foreign material, including gel-like substances or black particles.

What You Should Do:

Check the lot number on your bottle (located on the label)

Do not use the product if it matches the affected lots

Return it to the place of purchase or dispose of it properly

Contact your healthcare provider if your child has already taken the medication and you have concerns

This recall has been classified as a Class II recall, meaning the risk of serious harm is low, but temporary health effects are possible.

We are expecting dangerous cold temperatures and wind chills later this week into the weekend. Forecasts show highs near zero Friday and lows well below zero with wind chills down to -20°F to -35°F.

Cold Weather Dangers

Hypothermia/frostbite risk increases quickly in sub-zero wind chills.
Exposed skin can freeze in minutes at extreme wind chills.
Travel conditions may be icy and slick.

Space Heater Safety

Only use listed models in open areas with clearance around them.
Keep heaters at least 3 feet from flammable items.
Turn off space heaters when you leave the room or go to sleep.
Avoid using extension cords with heaters.

Practical Safety Tips

Dress in layers outdoors. Cover head, hands, and feet.
Check on elderly neighbors and people with health issues.
Protect pets and outdoor animals with warm shelter and water above freezing.
Prevent frozen pipes by letting faucets drip and opening cabinet doors on cold nights.
If roads get icy, limit travel and allow extra time.

Stay updated. Conditions can change quickly in extreme cold.

2025 Shop with a First Responder Event

On 12/14/2025 staff from the Steger Police Department, Steger Fire Department, Steger Emergency Management Agency, South Chicago Heights Police Dept, South Chicago Heights Fire Department, the Village of Steger, the Village of South Chicago Heights and Steger School District 194 participated in the annual Shop with a First Responder. Several students were chosen from letters they submitted.

The students and First Responders went to the Walmart in Richton Park where the students were able to shop and purchase gifts. Afterwards everyone went back to wrap their gifts and visited with Santa!

Thanks to all who helpped and thanks to Alicia’s House for helping make this event possible. Thank you to Walmart in Richton Park for assisting an accommodating us.
