It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of honorary member Travis Baine. As long time member, Deputy Chief James Baine, has had to say goodbye to his youngest son at the age of only 25, support and prayers are appreciated.

Lord of life and love,
as we give thanks for times past,
grant us courage to embrace the present
and grace to share the future.
In memory of loved ones dear,
kindle their flame to shine in the dark
and light the path ahead.
Show the way that leads to life
as we cherish days gone by

DENNIS' OBITUARY
Dennis D. Friedericks, age 61, of Steger, IL, passed away peacefully at his wife’s side on Saturday, October 23, 2021. Beloved husband of 39 years to Nancy H. Friedericks nee Babbitt. Loving father of Tiffany Friedericks-Sprouse, Jessica (Olumuyinwa) Jibowu. Beloved Papa of Sophia, Wyatt, Abiola and Jaylah. Cherished brother of the late LaVern (Marcella) Klenz Jr., Deborah (Thomas) Fleisher, William (Jannie) Friedericks and George Friedericks. Dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Orrin and Lois Jane Friedericks. Dennis was loved by many other close family members and friends, and will be dearly missed. Dennis was a parts driver and served with the South Chicago Heights Fire Department, Steger Estates and Steger Fire Department retiring as captain after 27 years of service.

On behalf of Steger Fire Department, we would like to congratulate Lieutenant Ragusin and Firefighter Rivera on earning their life saving awards.

At the apartment fire on June 16th, many departments worked very hard to keep our residents safe and try to preserve as much of their homes as they could. A couple firefighters stood out with some good saves, and these are two of them. Two residents were trapped in their third floor apartments when Ragusin and Rivera put up a ladder to their windows and were able to successfully rescue them.

Your hard work and dedication to keeping our town safe does not go unnoticed. Thank you to all departments and firefighters involved, and special thanks to both of these guys!
