While out visiting staff and students, Dr. McConnell noticed all sorts of shenanigans happening! Students were drawing on the sidewalk with chalk. SPC lunch ladies were cooking up lunch magic. Building nurses were busy in their offices, nursing students back to health. Later at SIC, some students even challenged Dr. McConnell to a race! (He lost 🤪). Then, he found Kennedy, who was so proud to show off her ELA award! Finally, at the end of the day, he began to look like the Cardinal!

📚✏️ School Supplies for the 2026–2027 School Year! ✏️📚

Great news, SD 194 families! Beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, Steger School District 194 will provide basic classroom school supplies for all students at all three schools.

Items such as crayons, glue sticks, notebooks, pencils, Kleenex, and other everyday classroom materials will now be supplied by the district to help reduce costs for families and make back-to-school preparation easier.

Families will still need to provide personal items like backpacks, lunchboxes, gym shoes, and other individualized student items.

We are excited to take this step forward to better support our students and families as we continue working to remove barriers and create the best learning environment for every child! ❤️🖤

During Teacher Appreciation Week, Mrs. Merer's Kindergarten Class from Steger Primary Center was nominated to win a pizza party through Scott's U-Save Tire & Auto Repair teacher contest.

Today, Mrs. Mercer, Ms. Perez, and the students enjoyed a fun pizza party together to celebrate.

Mrs. Hering oversaw Ms. Williams' 4th-grade class at Steger Intermediate Center as part of Dr. McConnell's Holiday Presence Raffle initiative.

This initiative allows administrators to cover classrooms, providing staff members with an opportunity to take a day off without using their allocated leave.

Mrs. Hering remarked on the excitement of the day and the joy of being back in the classroom.

Some of our amazing choir students from Columbia Central performed at the Windy City Thunder Bolts game on May 7! 🎶⚾

Even with heavy rainfall, our students continued to sing their hearts out and represent Columbia Central with pride and dedication. We are so proud of their hard work and perseverance.

Calling All Columbia Central Choir Alumni!

Each year, we invite our Columbia Central choir alumni to return and join us for a special performance at our final concert in May. Alumni will have the opportunity to sing one song alongside our current choir students.
