Frederick County Public Schools Social Media Terms and Conditions

The purpose of the Frederick County Public Schools (“FCPS”) official social media platforms is to provide information about our schools and public education generally in a timely and efficient manner. The following social media terms and conditions apply to any official FCPS social media page, including official social media pages

of any of its schools. For all posts made on and after September 20, 2024: Beginning September 20, 2024, FCPS official social media platforms will no longer allow commenting on posts. In the event a post inadvertently allows comments, once staff is aware the commenting capability will be removed as well as any comments that are made on the post. For any comments made on posts that were posted before September 20, 2024: In the event that comments are made to posts that were posted prior to September 20, 2024, those comments will be reviewed and removed, if necessary, pursuant to the below terms. Please note that official FCPS social media pages may not be regularly monitored and FCPS encourages anyone with specific questions or concerns involving a school matter to contact their school principal or the Director of Media and Communications (“Director”). Public comments expressed on FCPS social media pages do not reflect the opinions and position of the Frederick County School Board, FCPS, and its schools, officers and employees. Comment Removal
Recognizing that students use and access official FCPS social media platforms, FCPS expects those who engage with FCPS social media platforms to serve as role models to students and engage in civil, appropriate commentary. As a result, FCPS reserves the right to remove comments made on FCPS posts that contain:

-Conduct that violates the terms and conditions of the applicable social media platform (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
-Illegal conduct or encouragement of illegal activity
-Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates prohibited discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation
-Conduct that is threatening, inciting, harassing, or bullying
-Content that is unrelated to the original FCPS post
-Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party, such as copyright or trademark infringement
-Information that is false
-Content that compromises the safety or security of FCPS, any of its schools, staff, or students
-Personnel information, individually identifiable student information, or other confidential material
-Profane language or content
-Promotions of services or products
-Promotions of political candidates or organizations
-Sexual harassment or sexual content
-Solicitations of commerce or advertisements including promotion or endorsement
-Spam or comments that include links to external online sites
-Conduct that is otherwise in violation of School Board policies or that reasonably may lead to the substantial disruption of or material interference with FCPS school operations

Comments in violation of these terms and conditions may be removed from the applicable FCPS official social media platform. Continued or egregious violations may prompt FCPS to further restrict an individual’s commenting on official FCPS social media platforms. FCPS will not remove content simply because it disagrees with the user’s viewpoint or the user criticizes FCPS. Comment Removal Procedure
The FCPS social media platforms are administered by designated staff. When designated staff suspect a violation of these terms and conditions, the Director will be notified and will review and authorize removal of a comment when appropriate. Upon finding a violation, the Director will make a reasonable effort to contact the individual commenter to give notice of the violation and the removal of their commentary. Appeals regarding the Director’s decision to remove a comment or to take further action for repeated violations of these terms and conditions may be submitted via e-mail to the Assistant Superintendent for Administration within two calendar days. Notices
Individuals should be aware that their comments may be subject to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and records retention requirements. FCPS may be obligated to retain public comments in its records and/or disclose the information if requested. Official FCPS Social Media Pages include, but are not limited to, those pages identified on the FCPS website.

Friendly Reminder: Cafeteria Guidelines

To help ensure a safe and smooth lunchtime for everyone, please keep the following guidelines in mind:

Restrooms:
- Parents, guardians, and other guests who enter the building should use the designated adult restroom located in the hallway before returning to the main office. If you are having trouble locating this bathroom, please ask a staff member. Adult visitors should not use student restrooms at any time.

Eating with Other Students & Designated Seating:
- Only the student you are visiting for lunch is permitted to eat with you. Other students may not join your lunch table unless prior notification and permission have been provided by their parent/guardian before lunch time to the front office (the office will not make phone calls for approval during lunchtime.)
- Parents, guardians, and other guest visiting for lunch must sit at a designated table located in the back of the cafeteria. Due to limited space, please stay to one table. Cell phone use is not permitted in the cafeteria.

Purchasing a School Lunch:
- Visitors are welcome to purchase a school lunch, but payment must be made with cash only. Visitors may not use a student's lunch account to purchase their meal.

Entering and Leaving the Cafeteria:
- All visitors will enter through the main office entrance. Once inside, visitors will walk through the metal detectors and then complete the Raptor check-in process before entering the main office. When leaving the building, visitors must exit through the main office and use the Raptor badge that was printed at check-in to sign out.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Yesterday was a special day at Bass-Hoover as our kindergarteners and new students officially discovered which Swarm they would call their own! Students each picked a mystery bag containing their Swarm information, making the big reveal a fun surprise. Before finding out their Swarms, everyone learned the special chant that they will sing each quarter at Swarmapalooza. We are so excited to welcome our newest Stingers into the Bass-Hoover Swarm!

If you would like to order a Swarm shirt, please return the order form that was sent home with your student. Be sure to place your completed order form and payment in a Ziploc bag or envelope to help keep everything together.

Who doesn't love a fundraiser that makes dinner a little easier?

Bass-Hoover Elementary PTO is kicking off the school year with a Joe Corbi’s fundraiser!

This fundraiser will run now through September 11, 2026.

The money raised will help support several special events and activities throughout the school year, including Cookies with Santa, 5th Grade Graduation, Teacher Appreciation Week, and other events that they would love to offer to our families at no cost!

And there’s a little something extra for our students, too! Students will earn prizes based on the amount of items they sell.

Information may have been sent home yesterday, but should be in student backpacks today.

Thank you for supporting our PTO and helping us make more fun and memorable experiences possible for our students and families!
